I have been to this restaurant several times with family and friends, and I am happy to give it a solid 4 stars for their extensive menu that includes many vegetarian options, their good prices, and large portions.
Service has always been good, also.
It is a popular place for locals who enjoy their good food and fair prices.
I don’t believe that it is one of the best Mexican restaurants in terms of authenticity, but I admit that I am comparing it mostly to restaurants that I have visited in the Southwest, which have more traditional and more complex food with more seasoning and spices. Still, the food is fairly good.
We will definitely return here again sometime.

Troy! You have been keeping this gem a secret! 2nd time visiting this great town and I found El Potro. Food was hot and fresh. Had the Enchilada & Tostada Dinner. It was pleasing to look at and wasn’t over spiced. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The margaritas look wonderful! Great prices and the serving sizes are not small. The food we ordered was good but I know it can get better, I’m not hating, I definitely recommend this place and I hope that those in the kitchen will embrace all the spices mexican food is known for. I really wish they would use fresh tomatoes for the salsa they make instead of canned tomato juice.

It was a nice walk 750 meters just under a 1/2 mile down the street from. The pilot truckstop.
As with everything in this Covid-19 era all protocols were in place, from masks required, sanitizer by the entry etc..
Service was great, food was properly prepared and my requests were all taken care of.
Things like having them bring some salsa Verde in addition to their regular salsa fir the chips. Having them add fresh jalapenos to be grilled up with the rest if the peppers and onions. Extra napkins etc..
Was able to get a to go container for the leftovers including a paper bag for chips and 2 small containers for each of the salsas.
It was a great meal and have absolutely no complaints. Place ran like a well oiled machine. Will probably be back here again at some point.

Very friendly guy in the front that took my order but my order was wrong, too expensive, and not plentiful.
Not even trying to be mean or slandering, but I had to pick out way too much fatty pieces of pork, basically half the meat out. I asked for al pastor and they didnt add the pineapple. I paid 17 dollars n some change for it all. A pork taco that had barely any meat after I took out the fat, and I had to open up my quesadilla n pull out a lot of fat too. And I didnt get my pineapple.

First time there, even though I lived in Troy for many years. I don’t usually eat Mexican food (the reason why I didn’t go). We took the granddaughter there, and I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is gorgeous! The waiter was fantastic. The food was good. We will try to get back to try more things. Thanks to the waiter for being so patient with us.

The staff was very nice. My wife ordered a Burrito (see picture), too much to finish. I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicanas (see picture) very tasty. Overall, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Very nice people, nice interior very clean Salsa not to hot and has good flavor. This is the chimichanga chicken lunch special $6.99. Thats a good price point. They have a huge variety of food choices. They have a fat burrito, which is flour shell with rice and beans topped with pork, green sauce and cheese sauce it looks good. Enjoy food.
