We took out from here two evenings in a row. First night we got 2 chicken, 2 beef enchiladas which were super tasty. Second night we made our own “California special” with a chicken taco and two beef enchiladas. The chicken taco was really good with good chunks of tender, flavourful chicken.
The first night 2 gentlemen gave excellent service, and the second night there seemed to only be one person working the floor, but still great service.

This place may be the best deal in town. Service with a smile and some good humor. Good food, reasonably priced – which is more or less unheard of these days. Atmosphere is welcoming and cozy.

Very broad menu options including for vegetarians. Food has often been pretty good but our recent visit on Mar 29 was so disappointing that our waiter had to apologize several times. One person’s dinner in our party of 6 was brought out about 8 minutes after all the others and it was the simplest (a quesadilla); one dinner was cold; and the carnitas dinner was so tough that it was not chewable and even hard to cut. For us regulars it was unpleasant since we brought my wife’s family when they visited us.

We LOVE El Potro! The food is always excellent, but mainly we feel so comfortable & welcome because of the atmosphere – and that is due to the owners & staff. Such good & nice people. It’s hard to find a restaurant where your family/friends can relax & enjoy a conversation. Makes any special occasion even more special!

We were greeted and served immediately. I loved our waiter. He was hilarious. Great salsa and chips. My son had the triple fajitas, my husband had the chicken taco salad and I had the lunch special #9. We all loved our food. And we only had leftovers of the fajitas because we ate all our other food. Great find on our vacation and just around the corner from our hotel.

Chips were crispy. Salsa perfectly hot. Tilapia fish tacos not RUBIOS (ifkyk) but good. “Guadalajara” special tender shrimp and skirt steak good. BIG portions. Better choice than Cantina Luis even with the slightly tacky ( actually wonderfully quirky) decor.

I rather enjoyed it. They make legit steet tacos and, without having to be asked, they come with lime. You’d think a detail such as that would be obvious but all too many other places have “steet style” that comes nowhere close to here. Also, the salsa is great. This place is the real deal for Mexican food, thats why I rate it high.

This might be best Mexican restaurant in Jax Beach and surrounding area. I have lived here over 25 years. I go to many in the area but keep coming back here. Service is excellent. Food is very reasonable and portions are large. Great specials and top shelf margaritas.
