El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant was established in Moyock on October 11th, 2006 by a couple of guys with a dream and a passion for excellent Mexican food. Since then, we have grown with the community and are thrilled to announce our newest addition in Grandy! We’ve been thrilled at our success, at your support, and to call Currituck County home–we wouldn’t have it any other way. More than anything, we are grateful for you, our guests, who have made all of the hard work more than worthwhile!

Very disappointing to spend $70+ and have to go home and cook dinner. I realize tastes vary, but the cheese dip was too salty for any of us to eat, the guacamole was just some mashed avocado. Their idea of a Chile Relleno was strips of slimy Chile with no egg batter and the tablespoon of very plain rice and beans wasn’t enough to compensate for the lack of edible food. Expensive mistake we won’t make again. Servers were nice, but didn’t communicate well when we told them they’d served the wrong dish, so we didn’t know it would be replaced until everyone else had finished eating. Gotta go find some dinner now..

If you are driving through moyock and are hungry, this place is quick and the food is great. If you give less than 5 stars something is wrong with your taste buds and your attitude. I didnt try their margaritas but will in the future.

This location is hit or miss. Usually a miss more often than a hit. We used to come regularly a few years ago. Now not so much. The food is no longer consistently good.

Did a pickup order and it was wrong. Food containers weren’t closed all the way so there was food and sauce all over the bag. Ordered a small cheese sauce and it was halfway full. Definitely will not be ordering from there again.

This place is THE BEST. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and it’s very clean. Try the chicken burrito bowl salad- it’s amazing and so much for the price.

I loved the atmosphere, everyone was helpful/friendly, delicious & fresh chips with salsa. I had and nachos supreme, my buddy had the stake fajitas. Both were amazing!!

Made a stop at this restaurant for lunch while we were in our way to outer banks.
Nice traditional Mexican restaurant, the decor was beautiful done and gives a feel of being in Mexico.
We ordered Vegetable fajitas and chicken enchiladas.
While we waited for the food, the complimentary fresh chips and salsa made our wait pass by unnoticeable.
The food was brought out in a fairly short time.
Both the dishes were amazing and the portion size was huge.
Service was friendly and prices were very reasonable.
Will definitely revisit if I go that area again.

Coming from San Diego, my expectation for a real authentic Mexican food is really high. In all honesty, El Potrillo exceeded all my expectations. Great food, nice people and the service is awesome. It’s a 5+ stars in my books.

I got the #32 and it was hands down the best tasting fajitas style meal i have ever had. It has steak, shrimp, onion and pineapple; all my favorite things on one plate, will definitely go back and get again!

By far one of the best Mexican restaurants you’ll go to. My family and I started going here nearly a decade ago, and it has been the gold standard for Mexican restaurants ever since, despite living in three different states.

They’re chicken chimichangas are off the chain. The queso is bomb diggity. You will not go wrong by eating here.
