The food was average. Nothing to rave about but definitely wasnt bad. I had the carne asada plate. It tasted good, but was average. Unfortunately a table nearby had a screaming toddler and irresponsible parents. The gimmicky food delivery robots were pretty useless and pointless. The would continuously get stuck on the tile flooring by our table and needed a handler following nearby to assist it, which negated the robot.

Hate to leave a one star review because the food was very good, BUT hair in the food is unacceptable. Now if it was just one hair, it would still be gross but it happens. There were 4-5 hairs in the salsa, and I’m pretty sure they make a big batch of this at a time so who knows how many hairs are in that pot/how many customers had hair in their salsa tonight? Worst part is we didn’t even notice until we were almost done so who knows if we ate any of it. Showed the server the hairs and they didn’t say anything, just took the bowl away, no apology, no anything.

I will say it was quite interesting seeing the robot bringing the food to the tables. We have been here a few times & it’s usually hit or miss. The food is just ok. Nothing really spectacular about it. However my lemon drop margarita was really good! Overall the experience was just ok.

Never again. Nothing good to say. They barely gave me food; I ordered fajita nachos and this is what they brought out. The waiter made me order my drink at the bar and wouldn’t take my drink order at my table. He was rude. The food was nasty. If you can go somewhere else please do, this place is nasty from the food to the attitudes

My son was craving for a cheese quesadilla so I looked up restaurants near by. Picked this one up as it had great reviews. We ordered one to go. When I reached there I was charged 4:50 or close to that so I thought, great, nice restaurant and prices are reasonable too. I even gave a dollar tip to the bar tender. When I come home and open it, I was very disappointed. It was a small tortilla with just a little cheese inside (photos below), didn’t even cover that small tortilla. My son was disappointed. I had to put in more cheese and order elsewhere to make him happy. It is like they didn’t really care about this order, just angry and disappointed.

El Porton in Collierville is the absolute best Mexican restaurant in all of the Memphis area…. Our server Jonathan is the best!!! Very attentive… friendly… ask for him for the best service and experience!

It’s been pretty good for many years. Im guessing the current economic and political climate had a negative effect on food & service because things did slip for a minute there. But they fought through it and still churned out top tier Mexican food. If I did this review a year ago it’d be 6 stars. I still recommend this over many other places.
