EDIT; Since management responded to my original review I’ll change my review from 1 to 4 stars. Great food, large bar. Prices are reasonable. I have visited this location twice, the first without incident, the second time was minutes before this post and I was told there was no draft available at all.
Original post; STOP ADVERTISING BEER YOU DO HAVE. The Crosstown Traffic draft handle 4 ft from my head at the bar I’m told there’s no draft. So tired of going out of my way to places that lie about the products they serve.

My server Guadalupe, was generous, giving and quiet.
Excellent, fresh food and quiet atmosphere perfect for Autistics & HSPs.

We came here with family and really enjoyed ourselves. Food was really good. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. I also had their rainbow shots. I was able to change the flavors to my liking which was a plus as some places don’t allow you to. We really had a great time. Our server was nice as well.

A large group of us were able to be seated in the bar area as we requested. This group tries to come here every one or two months. The wait for someone to ask if we want drinks then the additional wait between getting any drinks and taking our order is usually long. Last week I arrived later than the rest of my group and it was over 20 minutes before I could find someone to request a water and a soda. Then had to find someone to take my order , since my friends had given their orders a few months before I arrived.

They pay no attention to take out orders. They put in the bag what they want to and do not care..either that or they can’t read English. They have options for tacos..ground beef or chicken. Ordered 2 of each..they send all ground beef. Second time this has happened. And I made no mistake..I have the receipt that plainly says 2 beef and 2 chicken. Then if you call to complain they are rude and hang up on you!! Don’t eat in for this restaurant either. They charge an automatic 18 percent gratuity. I will not eat in person at any restaurant that does that! Tipping is an option in the United States and not mandatory!! They say it’s on the door which nobody can see..then they tack it onto your bill. I used to go here alot and stopped. I double tipped them once not knowing about the 18 percent add in which is bs! You need to pack it up and move and take your cat robots with you! There is a recent complaint right under mine that states by the customer that you served her what you wanted and not what she ordered.. Sasha under lowest reviews..same as you did me. That is not how it works owner maam..and yes I know who you are! Response to owner: How are you going to retrain your staff when it was your husband that hung up in my face? How are you going to redo my order since it was Doordash? Do you even know the difference between ground beef and chicken? Geez! And I won’t be eating there anymore either. Nobody is going to dictate what I tip. Tipping is up to the customer based on the quality of service provided! This is the only restaurant in the city that I am aware of that automatically adds on 18 percent gratuity no matter what size the party is! Its very sad when a person is really looking forward to something such as I was with the chicken tacos and I pay delivery fees and tip and the restaurant doesnt even bother to read the order!

Our 1st time here , my husband beans nor rice were hot he order the fajita plate ….neither were my black beans hot . I never order my own drink at any restaurant we go to because I just end up wasting it,plus I don’t eat and drink at the same time, it’s usually after I eat. So the waitress kept asking me do I want water or something to drink, I said no if I need to drink I’ll sip some of my husband drink and the waitress said to me we don’t share drinks here if you take more than 2 sips I have to charge you for 2 drinks. well that remark and the tone of her voice just reduced her tip and I am one who loves to tip but you better not come out your neck wrong That’s stupid I can have some of my husband drink if I want to, Are the tariffs hitting yall that bad.She didn’t stop anything I made sure my husband got a refill to go so I could drink on it all the to the car. I WON’T BE BACK.

This place has really gone down. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Customer Service is crap. They give you what they want you to have. The guy with the gap can’t read receipts. He changed my order because he said I only paid for one item when it clearly said two. He had a funky attitude as well. I immediately cancelled my order. YOU WILL NOT talk crap and slam my food and expect me to eat it. I will never be back and I encourage everybody to think twice before giving these people your money, let alone eating anything from here.
SHUT IT DOWN ASAP!!!
In response to the owner: NO!! You will NOT get to play in my face/food for a third time. THIS time I was giving y’all another chance. This isn’t the first problem I have had. You will NOT reach a third strike. It’s over with for y’all for me, all of my family, every friend who asks and hopefully every eye that reads these horrible reviews.

Best Mexican food I’ve had in quite some time. The chicken mole was excellent, the elote corn was fantastic, and the charro beans were maybe the best I’ve ever had.

The El Superior chef specialty is absolutely amazing. Tender, flavorful chicken packed into a nice tortilla full of spice. Think chips and terrifically thick queso. The Maya Mango Margarita is a great twist on a classic but could use a few more ounces of liquor. The table service was way better than most and the hostesses are very welcoming. This fully Mexican environment makes this whole place that much better. Although, the price is a little higher than most of these type establishments the service and quality of the food more than made up for it.

Black people in Memphis…Do not…I REPEAT… do not dine nor spend a dime with El Porton in Poplar Avenue. The woman who I assume is the manager on duty was blatantly racist (which is sad because she is Latina) and was biligerent, yelling and acting a whole for doordash pick up order–wrongfully assuming I was a Dasher (which shouldn’t even matter). She asked for proof of the order and I literally politely asked what she needed to see. She proceeded to throw a receipt at me. I then said, “Yes, that’s my order.” Then I said ok… and then she used rude, dismissive hand gestures saying she still needed proof. I replied yet again, “What do you need to see? I have the proof on my phone.” I proceeded to hand her my phone, and she flew off the handle and said she wasn’t giving me the order. Ma’am…I really didn’t want to call the police because of how unsafe it is for immigrant staff, but they were called and justice was served. Bonus points because I’m bilingual and was able to still communicate with staff as she initially refused to give the police the address while on the 911 call. Me and family have dined here for literal decades. This is NOT the time for Latinos to act a fool with Black folks. Save that energy for the people who wish to harm your people… and they don’t have melanin like me and my folks. I hate poor leadership is bringing this place down.
