We were on a quick turn around trip from Minnesota to Oklahoma, on the way back to Minnesota we stopped at El Portal and it was definitely the best food stop during the road travel. Great food, great atmosphere and wonderful customer service. My boyfriend said it was the best jalapeno poppers he’s ever had.

Well I can’t say anything about the food because we walked out after being seated next to a really smelly restroom in an empty restaurant…. Tells me all I need to know about both the food and the service! Gross

The moment we entered it smelled weird, and we couldn’t figure out what the smell was. Chips were over cooked, so were the poppers. The jalapenos inside the poppers were obviously old. The food was all either tasteless, or had no taste at all. Our server couldn’t understand a simple question about if their Pina colada had real coconut milk in it, instead started rambling about the alcohol that is used. Overall not a pleasant experience.

Very good food, we had fish, chicken, steamed veggies. Service was quick and friendly. The environment was colorful and fun tables had pictures on them.

We had a large group of about 25, but the service was so great. The good was delish!! The atmosphere was do much fun, with handpainted tables and chairs. I wish I lived closer to Auburn, because I’d go there a lot!
