Customer service was exceptional friendly, attentive, and fast. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the same standard. I ordered the chicken mole, but had to return it because the mole sauce tasted bitter and sour definitely not the traditional flavor profile I was expecting. I substituted it with the carne guisada which the tomato sauce lacked seasoning and depth. My husband ordered the beef steak ranchero, which was the highlight of the table tender, flavorful, and well-seasoned. My son enjoyed his fajita quesadillas, so the kitchen clearly has potential.
I also had a jumbo margarita on the rocks, which was pre-mixed and didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Food is so great! Such a hidden gem, I bet this place doesn’t get as many people as it should given to the location. My husband orders the fajitas poblanas and I got the San Lorenzo. Everything came out fresh and so good. The restaurant was nice and clean and the prices were the best of all. We will definitely be back.

If you are going to come to this town, please MAKE SURE TO COME EAT HERE, I had Mario and Marvin serving me and they did not disappoint at all… the food came 4 minutes after i ordered, i don’t know for you but for me this was very fast, and comes hot and very taste and has a lot of flavor… i had the carnitas, i ate very well and left very full, definitely worth the money, around $17… i will come back next time i come to this city. My review is 100/05, thank you!

Finally got around to trying El Portal Mexican Grill. This little gem is unfortunately a bit off the beaten path, hidden on a residential street on the south edge of Oak Ridge, and overlooked by many including us until we made it a point to check it out when jonesing for some sizzling beef fajitas. It’s everything a great Tex-Mex restaurant should be… very attractive, very clean, great service, excellent prices, and a mixed menu of wonderful typical Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican dishes. Very glad we found it.

Why is this restaurant not always packed with a line out the door? We love El Portal and eat here weekly. The staff are super nice and do a great job. The food is awesome no matter what we all order. Its such a smal, quiet, nice place to have a meal where you can actually hear each other talk and have a nice conversation. It’s one of our favorite restaurants for sure.

The food was good, I had lunch at this cozi Mexican restaurant on a weekday, veri quiet, the servers mas attentive. I had the mix fajitas, beef and chicken, and small portion but tasty.
