I’ve been to many fast-casual spots, but El Pollo Loco consistently hits the mark when I want a meal that feels “real” and flavorful.
The Highlights:
The Chicken: The star of the show. The citrus-marinated, fire-grilled flavor is unbeatable. I especially loved the glaze on the drumstick—it was perfectly juicy and had just the right amount of char.
The Sides: Their Mac & Cheese is surprisingly creamy and a great comfort-food addition to the meal. The Spanish Rice was fluffy and seasoned well, providing a great base for the chicken.
Fresh Extras: You can’t skip the coleslaw for a bit of crunch, and the fresh tortillas are a must-have for making your own mini-tacos.

This location is off Mission Boulevard corner lot. I for sure bummed into some very friendly service with a smile. Their menu has quite a bunch of options that took my brain a while to process. Food coma!
I ordered just for me, the 2 piece fire grilled chicken, leg and thigh, which comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas, and 2 sides. Food ordered is made available almost immediately. Not bad prices too, to fill you up!
Their interior seating is colorful with sectioned off comfy couches for privacy or chairs next to glass windows looking into the busy road/parking lot. It always warms my heart to see families and groups of workers taking their lunch break, while hanging together. Hearing normal, lively and animated human conversations minus the electronic distractions, is what my eyes/ears absolutely loved observing during my brief visit here while servicing my car at the Toyota dealership. Great vibes!

Healthier “fast” food. Most protein menu items use their fire grilled chicken, side items like broccoli and rice. Dinning room and restrooms are not always the clranest … which is why only 3 * for “Atmosphere”

First time trying this place and i am really disappointed. The order was a breast and wing. Breast was so small similar to a size of a thigh, meat was shriveled up and super dry. It tasted like 2 day old chicken tht they pop in the microwave. And the wing, is an absolute joke of a size. Mac n cheese was decent though. First and last time ordering from this place.

El Pollo Loco never disappoints. We get food from there often, drive-thru and delivery, and the food is consistently delicious. We had more food from there tonight, delivered by Grubhub. For my money, they have the best chicken and chicken dishes anywhere, Mexican or otherwise; they have burritos, salads, bowls and combo meals of awesome grilled chicken with a big variety of sides and goodies. Love El Pollo Loco!

Food was OK. Chicken was dry but edible. Staff was friendly and service was good. Didn’t take long to get our order after we placed it. This was our first time here, not sure if I will try it. again or not, kind of on the fence.

We love El Pollo Loco restaurants, especially the one in Hayward, we’ve been in many from northern to south of CA, and this is the best. The people here are extremely nice and helpful, always pleasant, smiling, when I asked for all thighs instead of thighs and drumsticks, they always let me to have them.
The place is always clean, the salsa bar is always full even on a busy night which the stocking lady works extra hard, the cleaning lady cleans whenever the customers left the tables. Everyone works together amazingly well, hats off to the management.
We come here at least twice a month or even more when the traffic on 880 is not bad on weekends.
My son’s favorite is chicken avocado quesadilla combo with drink and chips, we love the $20 meal with 8 or 10 piece thighs and drumsticks, 2 big sides mashed potato and corns. Sometimes it came with cheese quesadilla which everyone loves.
It’s great chicken, wonderful taste, inexpensive and healthy dinner for our family, we love this place.

I love chicken and this was my first time trying El Polo Loco and I had no idea what I was missing out all this time. The grilled chicken is the best I have ever had that I could remember. The Staff and service was also great,the dining area is kept clean, keep up the good work. They have a drive thru and a good amount of parking space. I now have a favorite place to eat chicken and the next time I am craving chicken in general, I know where to go. I totally recommend El Pollo Loco
