The patties come out thin, so consider a double unless you’re just peckish.
Ordering is easy, which I love. You can order online and skip standing at the window altogether. If you do order at the window, expect about a 15–20 minute wait. Totally worth it, but it’s nice to have the option.
Another huge plus is that it’s attached to K2. Not in a beer mood? Grab a root beer. Feeling like a brew? You’re covered.
I also really appreciate how involved they are with events at K2. They feel like part of the place, not just parked next to it.
Food-wise: solid every time. The burgers are great, the fries are great, and I love the mac and cheese.
I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but based on what I’ve had so far, I’d be shocked if there’s a bad option!
Also, I don’t get the name “Pollo feo”—there’s nothing chicken-related on the menu. (Now I could say the food is definitely “feo”)
And the menu names everything after rap singers, which has nothing to do with the food or the restaurant name. Am I missing something here?
We drove all the way from Whidbey Island, and it just felt like a weird experience. Definitely not worth the drive. I could see it being decent if you’ve had a few drinks or are looking for something quick when you’re tipsy, though.
Let’s talk about the burger first, because this is the star of the show. The base of the Mac Miller burger is a perfectly cooked smash patty—thin and crispy on the edges, yet still juicy on the inside. The key to a great smash burger is that crispy exterior, and this one nails it. The burger is seasoned well, offering a savory, beefy flavor that is the perfect canvas for the indulgent toppings that follow.
Now, the mac and cheese. If you’re thinking, “Oh, it’s just a little scoop of mac and cheese on a burger,” you’d be mistaken. This mac and cheese is something to behold. It’s rich, creamy, and velvety with just the right amount of gooeyness. The pasta itself is cooked to perfection, offering a slight chewiness that complements the burger’s crispy texture. The cheese is a blend that provides a deep, satisfying flavor without being overwhelmingly rich. There’s also a nice balance between the mac and cheese and the burger itself, making it feel like a complete dish rather than just a heap of toppings thrown on a bun.
But what truly elevates the Mac Miller burger is the jalapeño bacon aioli. The aioli strike a perfect balance between heat and creaminess. The jalapeños bring a slight kick, but they don’t overpower the dish; they add just enough of a spicy bite to cut through the richness of the mac and cheese. The bacon component? Absolutely essential. The smoky, crispy bacon crumbles add a lovely crunch and a savory depth of flavor that perfectly complements the sweetness of the aioli.
This burger is truly an indulgence, and every bite is a glorious combination of textures and flavors. The crunch of the smash patty, the creaminess of the mac and cheese, the smoky bacon, and the spicy aioli all work together harmoniously. It’s a burger that demands your full attention and rewards you with every bite.
No burger experience is complete without a stellar side, and *The Kendrick* delivers in spades. If you haven’t had poutine before, this Canadian classic is essentially crispy fries topped with rich gravy and cheese curds. But *The Kendrick* takes that concept and raises the stakes.
The fries are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, creating a delightful textural contrast. They are generously loaded with cheese curds that are still soft and squeaky, adding a lovely mouthfeel as they melt in your mouth. The gravy is the true hero here, though. It’s thick and rich, with just the right amount of saltiness to bring out the flavors of the fries and curds without being too overpowering. The whole dish is indulgent but not overly heavy, and the flavors are robust enough to stand on their own or complement the richness of the Mac Miller burger.
Together with the burger, The Kendrick is an excellent companion. The crispy fries offer a contrast to the juicy burger, and the rich gravy and cheese curds pair perfectly with the spicy jalapeño aioli on the burger. It’s comfort food at its finest, the kind of dish you can’t help but devour.
