Overall was a good meal – chips and salsa were super fresh. Guacamole was good, however it really only tasted of strong onions.
Meal was pretty good – the rice was a bit oily … probably from the shrimp, chicken and onions that were grilled. Queso was flavorful and added to the dish.
Service was great. I have dietary restrictions and server was great to make sure everything was served safely for me.

What a lovely experience at this hot, new restaurant! From the friendly service to the musical ambience to the beautifully hand-painted furniture, you will be delighted by the atmosphere! The food portions are generous and an excellent value for the price. Additionally, there was such a nice variety on the menu (including the kids menu) that picky eaters in your bunch will find something they enjoy! Stop by and give your new favorite restaurant a try!

I’m fortunate enough to work in an area where I have access to numerous authentic Mexican restaurants. El Pitayo definitely skews towards Mexican-American cuisine, but it is absolutely delicious.
We started with the chicken nachos which were phenomenal. Even my daughter who wouldn’t normally indulge had to try them, and liked them. The tacos were slightly dry and didn’t come with lime, but we’re still tasty. I hadn’t had fried ice cream for years, and was pleased with this iteration. The churros were very good, as well. Margaritas were generously sized.
Given the geographic placement, I wasn’t expecting much, but this is definitely a good spot.

Very excited about a New Mexican food joint in Lovettsville, and it was amazing. I had the chimichanga, one chicken one beef tip. The tortillas were fried perfectly, nice crisp, then soft and chewy. The meats were expertly marinated and the portion was perfect. Agreed with another reviewer, guacamole wasn’t necessarily bland, but certainly a little too much “avocado”. Along with the salsa, I imagine flavors are tailored to the demographics. 😉 Would be nice if we got a choice in spice level maybe…
My Son got the steak fajita burrito, and was blown away by the flavor. Lots of steak, plenty of fixins on the plate. He even ate the onions!
$15 a dish not too bad, $7 guac was a little light on the portion, but I suppose this is the inflationary world we live in now…
The decor as others have mentioned, is beautiful and inspires an excitement about eating some great Mexican food. Makes me wonder if it’s off the shelf and I’ll see it somewhere else, or if they had an artist do it all? Either way, great job!
The service was very good, everyone seemed happy to sell the product. If I had to nit pick, it was closer to diner service than fine dining and showed a typical lack of formal training that is common in family run restaurants. Things like a 2 minute check back, unsolicited refills and pre bussing make such a big difference in the experience. I wish more restaurants would understand, we go out to eat for the experience. Great food is simply how we decide where to have that experience.

Love to come to El Pitayo! It is by and far the best place to get Mexican food around. Worth the long drive every time. Wonderful service and amazing atmosphere, highly recommend.

I ordered the enchiladas supreme. Delicious! We came back again and ordered the street tacos. The meat is excellent. We chose the chicken, carne asada, and el pastor. We cannot pick a favorite. The food comes out very quickly. The restaurant is beautiful! We love the seats! Jonathan our server as exceptional!!
