Stopped in here a few weeks ago and very happy we did, very nice local restaurant. First time trying New Mexican but not my last. Katie and the rest of the staff were very friendly and the food was outstanding. Ordered Chips & Guac (sorry no pic) to start. It’s a definite must. The portion is a good size, bursting with freshness and lots of flavor. The Blue Corn Enchiladas with braised chicken was simply a great dish, complemented with Pinto Beans and Rice.

They really captured the Hispanic flavors in their food, the salsa is top notch, I have the Montgomery because I wanted to sample a little of their food, chili relleno was my favorite, the cheese sauce in the relleno was on spot!! We will definitely be back!! Try their food, you will fall in love.

My favorite food is Mexican and New Mexican, and my first visit to El Patron did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great, sat outside on a beautiful day, and enjoyed a great meal. The chips were light and crispy, the guacamole was fresh and delicious, the salsa was very flavorful start to my experience. I enjoyed a taco, chile relleno, and enchilada with red and green chile, christmas style. Highly recommended

A good New Mexican restaurant that recently opened. The hanger steak was incredible, I would go back just for that. The rice and beans were good if a little undercooked/seasoned. They have an all day happy hour at the patio and bar.

Was pleasantly surprised at the plush atmosphere. Our lunch was expertly prepared and served without delay. We are fans of both El Patron locations in Albuquerque and this new location is everything we had hoped for. We ordered the vegetarian enchiladas and carne adovada and both had every nuance of the New Mexican style cuisine we love. Prices are a bit higher but this is Scottsdale so to be expected.

From the moment you enter El Patron you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world. The kindness from the staff exudes and the atmosphere is amazing. They don’t skimp on the tequila in a margarita and the chile relleno is a
10/10. Highly recommend heading in and checking this place out. Go see Katie at the bar! She’s fantastic!!

This restaurant is a 10/10. The drinks, the food and the service were excellent. Katie the bartender was absolutely amazing. She prepared our drinks perfectly and she was extremely nice too. I will always come back to this restaurant anytime I come back to Scottsdale.

Nicely curated Mexican restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. I can tolerate slow service as long as the food is good, however when both are poor, it is not worth the money.

El Patron is my go to restaurant when I am visiting family in New Mexico. Born and raised in Albuquerque and having moved to Arizona 5 years ago, I was so excited that my favorite restaurant expanded close to me.
The food was fantastic and tasted just like home. I got the enchilada casserole which is my all time favorite. However, for the price of the food ($10 more in AZ than in ABQ which I expected), I was bummed by the fact that it did not come with rice and beans.
The meal in Albuquerque comes with a nice slice of the casserole and a side of rice and beans. The Scottsdale location served double the size of the casserole but no rice and beans. After looking at the menu, I realized that not all the meals came with rice and beans (which is really surprising as most of them do back home). Even the chile rellenos did not include rice and beans.
I would encourage management to reconsider this change as it makes for a better presentation of the dish. Plus, some people from AZ aren’t used to the NM chile heat. The rice and beans can help cool the palette.
We were also not given sopapillas at the end of our meal. For $26 for a meal, I expected more and not an a la carte item.
With that said it tasted like home and I will definitely come again. I hope and pray the restaurant finds success in Scottsdale!
