Man, as a 27-year-old dude originally from South Georgia, finding legit Mexican food out here in South Texas that hits like the spots back home is straight-up rare. But this place? Absolute fire. The flavors take me right back—fresh ingredients, big bold seasoning, that real homemade vibe. Everything I’ve ordered has been tremendous, no cap, and it’s spot-on perfect every single time. Never once been let down.
Doesn’t matter if I’m eating inside or hitting the drive-through for to-go—the quality is identical. Hot, fresh, packed with flavor, no shortcuts. The drive-through is crazy quick too, especially when I’m in a rush, but the food still comes out delicious as hell. Total perfection, seriously.
If you’re anywhere in South Texas and craving some real-deal Mexican that slaps, this is the move. 10/10, I’ll keep coming back.

They can’t seem to EVER get our order correct, it’s hard to understand what’s so hard about making chorizo and egg when we ask for chorizo and egg. I probably would’ve ate it but the eggs were overcooked and the bacon look unhealthy.

Not sure how management is in this place but having customers waiting in the drive thru window for about 50 mins (without the order even being taken by the way), is appalling. I left after waiting 50 mins cause I was no longer going to waste more time to get something to eat. Not even restaraunts take this long.

Came back 8•11•24 and wanted breakfast but came at lunchtime. I was so disappointed I got potatoes and egg and man they were still raw, hard and very shysty with egg. Idk what is happening, El Pato, but your cooks are not the same. You didn’t take care of your prior cooks, the females that were there for yrs. They were the ones that made it good. (No offense to men), but your staff at this location were always the same ladies. Now it is awful. Not to mention, I got a chorizo and egg and was so wet and greasy when you never have it like that, just a mess. My error was I didn’t take a pic for my proof but got the pic for the barbacoa now let me tell you it had a funky taste and for sure it’s not barbacoa idk what it is but was so dissapointed this time. If yall keep this up, you’re gonna lose business. I always drive 45 min just to come here. But how it was back then, it was so worth it. Now I’m having doubts and not coming back. Idk about other customer opinions, but this was my experience. If you’re not up to the mood of making breakfast, then don’t serve it if you’re just gonna be sloppy. And we get stuck paying for aweful food. Or just change your menu breakfast only mornings, but don’t advertise breakfast all day, and you get what you get and client be all ticked off. That’s not good El pato. Well, I hope they retrain or do something. Your cooks do not care how they do things, and it is gonna be a huge impact on horrible buisness at this very location. It is not the cashiers fault your food is cold, under/over cooked it is the cooks fault. Cashiers just charge and greet clients. Just making that clear. Then they apologize for the cooks when they shouldn’t. Down graded the stars from 5☆ down to 3☆ and that is my reason.

Came in for a quick bite and had the chicken Enchiladas they were good. Still is a hit!. Still like my Pato with beef, cheese & and avocado

Pato is very good, always pretty good servings. The pato tacos are pretty pricey, guys, but they are good. The bake potato is OMG, no joke, yet Delish for the price wow amazing I will order it again. When my buds are craving it. As usual, I ordered my Pato taco Beef/cheese/Avocado. I love this one, and my husband orders the guisado plate. So yes, food is pretty decent, always fresh. The place is always clean, clean restroom and staff is always nice. I travel about 30 minutes to this place to come and have a good meal, either breakfast, lunch or dinner. I recommend it, and yet it’s pretty packed on drive-thru. But it’s ok. I dine in. May I mention that breakfast here is always on the menu? Breakfast is not only for breakfast. You can have it any hour of the day, and I recommend it. Very delish plates and breakfast tacos chorizo and egg w cheese, potato egg, and cheese. My plate was the chicharon with egg, refried beans, side potatoes, and flour tortillas very good. But idk last three 3x’s I’ve come they don’t carry Pico de Gallo idk what’s the deal. You all need to have it. All other Patos restaurants have it, and you all don’t. Anyways, thank you for my meals, Harlingen Pato, staff, and cooks.

I wish we had one of these up near us in DFW area, since this is the best tasting fast food Mexican I’ve ever had.
The guisado was hot and tender, with a nice brown gravy with a homemade taste.
Service was prompt and friendly and the prices on everything are very reasonable.
The street taco combo plates were super good and authentic with tender beef and all the proper sides offered like cilantro chopped onions and lime slices.
I’ll certainly be back next time we’re in the valley!

First timer. Tasty food for great price. This is mexican fast food but doesn’t taste like it. Has some authentic mexican flavors. Food took a little while to come out but worth the freshness. Flautas come 5 to a plate which is way more than I could consume. Don’t forget to order the chips and queso!

The epitome of non efficiency. Prepare to celebrate Christmas in January here. And dont think this is my 1st visit. Its been like this for years. This time a 30 minute wait; at least they told me this time. Friendly staff but ridiculous wait times. I was going to go through drive thru but I waited in the streets for 3 minutes cuz line wasn’t moving. Came inside only to find a 30 minute wait time. Perhaps its time to hire a UPS manager or Chick Fil A supervisor to get this place in gear. Food is good but its “FAST” food nonetheless. Ain’t so fast here. Can’t find anything on website to order ahead either….maybe its time to join the rest of the American fast food ecosystem?

I really enjoyed being back here to have the chicken with rice tacos. Drove all the way in from San Antonio, Tx. It did not disappoint… Thank you El Pato for a wonderful experience back. The food was delish and tastey. We will be back.

Shouldn’t the bacon be cooked with the potato and egg? And not added as a topping on the side.

I couldn’t believe how terrible this beef fajita plate was. It’s not worth the $16.00 i paid for. Food had no flavor. Wasn’t even warm. I would say the food was from yesterday. didn’t seem fresh. Looked horrible. I am very disappointed with the quality of food from El Pato.
