A refresh is surely needed here. It is a very dated restaurant and likely should have been updated over 10 years ago. The food was pretty good but the margaritas tasted like soap.
Our server was very nice and the food came out quickly. I will say that the prices are a bit steep but at least it tasted good.
Be prepared to valet as there is no parking. This is pretty standard practice in the are but it is nice to know ahead of time.

I went to Felix as a youngster and it was my first Mexican Food Experience in themid-70’s. It is my benchmark for all other Mexican food places. We go at least once a year for the Felix queso and Felix plates. It’s always a mega-dose of nostalgia. I don’t think the beans and rice are “Felix” style from what I can recall, but the other items are OG. It’s got the old school vibe with the Felix lights. They just need to find the old sign and put it up…maybe even those chairs…

I had a funny feeling walking up, it was all old people going in and out. On the way home tried the chips, and they taste nothing like the store bought ones sold under their name. NO SALT AND BLAND! Got home tried the food, ZERO SEASONING!! I get that restaurants need to be mindful of seasoning, but this is tex mex not hospital or senior living food! I could also tell they fried the chimichanga and then microwaved the cheese on top, the tortilla was tougher than a leather belt! Now the Nachos, how do you blow it with nachos, well they did! Save your time and money cost is the same as ninfas or el tiempo, but at least those places the food has some flavour!

I got red Chilaquiles and a non-alcoholic pineapple margarita. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was so nice and sweet. Every time I come over it’s always a good experience. Parking is absolutely terrible though. It’s very small. It’s not only for the restaurant. It’s for other businesses too and it’s a struggle to find a spot.

Great customer service here. We shared the crab and shrimp enchiladas. We were not impressed with this dish we chose, they asked our thoughts I shared our displeasure I told them I would pay as everything else was perfect. They removed and were insistent. I just tipped better to off set. House margaritas were great. We love the atmosphere and the service. We will be back!!!

I’ve been going to El Patio for years and have recommended it to so many people. It’s truly been one of my favorite restaurants, and the food is easily some of the best in Houston. Over time, I’ve had a few moments where the customer service fell short, but because the food was always so good, I chose to overlook it.

Today, though, was different. While placing my sister’s plate on the table, the waiter brushed his watch across my nacho plate. When I mentioned it, he looked at his watch and, since he didn’t see anything on it, he abruptly told me it didn’t happen. He did offer to remake the dish, but by then, his tone and dismissiveness had already left me feeling uncomfortable and unheard.

It honestly breaks my heart to say this, but after years of being a loyal customer, today convinced me that I will not be returning to El Patio.

Update: I took a friend who has never been here and we arrived around 1 PM. We had lunch and played catch up. No one was waiting on a table and there were empty tables available. I have never had a restaurant take away our chips and salsa that was on our table. That killed it for me. My first time here for lunch was better than my recent visit.

Good food, good service
I got the three crunchy tacos with rice. Rice was nice and fresh, tacos were full of meat.
Waiter kept my drink full

Overpriced and not worth it. $16 for a ranch water is ridiculous. Bartender was more busy on FaceTime than paying attention to customers. Hard pass.
