Stopped in for a quick lunch. They have very reasonably priced lunch specials. I ordered the combination fajita lunch special and it was very good and priced right at only $12.99. This is a very good lunch spot!

Typical Mexican restaurant. There wasn’t anything special, just good food, a comfortable atmosphere and good service. Prices were average. Pictured is my order of spinach enchiladas (tasty!) I ordered a mini salad instead of beans.

I can’t believe we missed out on eating here sooner! This place is busy but our food was put very quickly. Let me tell you it tasted absolutely delicious. The qauso was the best I have ever had, and i had some in Mexico! The portions sizes are very generous, you will most likely need a to go box!

So I visited this place on a Friday night for the first time. I was so disappointed and here’s why. I saw the reviews and was dumbfounded by how many people praised this place. After dining in I honestly think the people that gave these high reviews don’t have any other tex mex restaurant to compare it to. Fact! So we ordered the carne guizada and beef fajitas. When ordering, my gf asked if she could substitute the guacamole for extra cheese. Our female server quickly said, “No, but I can give you extra sour cream”. We didn’t ask for or want sour cream. No options were given. Needless to say we saw our server twice that evening. Ok whatever. Now as far as the food. The beef fajitas were TOUGH, not tender. Bland and seasoning was lacking. More coaching for the cooks required here. And the carne guisada had a couple of big pieces of grissle (tendon) and the beef was tough. Rosa’s Cafe has way better tender guisada. I definitely cannot recommend this restaurant.

El Paseo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a part of Hazel’s soul. I’ve been coming here for years, ever since my wife Jennifer first brought me. It’s been her favorite spot since childhood, and I can see exactly why. Every time we step through the door, it feels like coming home.

We had the chicken (perfectly seasoned and tender), the sizzling fajitas, and their famous queso — honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The hinagios (jalapeño-stuffed goodness!) are a must. Every dish is full of flavor and prepared with care, just like they’ve always done it.

And then there’s the waiter — the one who’s been there forever with his signature poncho — a piece of history in himself. That’s what makes El Paseo so special: it’s not just the food, it’s the people, the stories, and the memories wrapped into every visit.

This is classic, down-to-earth, Tex-Mex at its finest. If you ever find yourself in Hazel, don’t miss El Paseo. It’s not just worth it — it’s essential.

We had a great lunch at El Paseo with that chicken fajitas and steak fajitas. Chips and queso were really good. I would recommend our waitress was awesome. She checked on his frequently. Make sure we have plenty of drinks. I was so full afterwards I just couldn’t eat the rest of the day. It’s a really good place. Highly recommend thank you so much.

Service and atmosphere was what you’d expect for a well established tex mex restaurant, it was fine. The food was lackluster. I thought it was safe to get chicken fajitas, since those are generally difficult to do poorly, but I was incorrect. The chicken was dry and seemed as if it was being cooked off in batches and put in a steam well and just forked out onto a cast iron skillet that had never once been seasoned properly or cleaned. Plates were chipped which is a huge red flag that speaks to standards. Refried beans tasted old and like dishwater and the rice was on the harder side. There isn’t much here in Azle as far as food options goes, but you’re better off driving a little deeper into fort worth if you want better tex-mex. I’m sure that El Paseo had its day, but this was not one of them. Low quality, basic, thrown together food that is barely edible.

We recently moved to Azle and have been here 4 times in 2 months. Good food, salsa and chips. The server we have had the past 2 times we as great. Service overall is exceptional, no issues. Glad they recently made it 100% smoke free.

The only issue I would recommend to the restaurant to fix or look into is the vent near the hostess station above everyone’s heads. The whole pipe is covered in condensation. We noticed it our first time there how it created a slip hazard, the remainder of the times they keep a floor mat near the drops. There is one table near by it could possibly drop into someone’s food.
