Visited today and had an amazing experience! The service was top-notch, definitely a 5/5. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

The atmosphere is lovely and inviting, with a beautiful patio that’s perfect for a relaxing meal. It’s lively but not too loud, making it comfortable for families.

As for the food, the cheese enchiladas were absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My daughter loved the quesadilla, which was simple yet tasty. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for both adults and kids!

Disclaimer: Food reviews are subjective. What I enjoy, you may not—and just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s bad. It simply means it wasn’t to my personal taste. With that said, here’s my review.

️ What I Ordered:
Mexican Bowl
Chicken with Mole Poblano
⭐ Food Review:

Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Mexican Bowl really stood out—it was packed with Mexican rice, black beans, corn, chicken, onions, bell peppers, guacamole, and sour cream. Every ingredient worked perfectly together, and the flavors were well balanced and satisfying.

The Chicken with Mole Poblano was just as impressive. The chicken was smothered in a rich, velvety mole sauce, topped with sesame seeds, and served with rice, refried beans, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. The mole had great depth and flavor without being overpowering.

Service:
VThe service was amazing. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout my visit.

️ Atmosphere:
VI loved the atmosphere—it truly captures the charm and history of Olvera Street and makes the dining experience even better.

Would I Return?
Yes, absolutely. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Delicious food. This was the first time being here. I love moles so I had to try it here. It was a sweet type of mole that was more red than black. We also ordered guacamole and chips that was made in front of us. We also had machaca which I really liked because it wasn’t as salty and it usually is since it is made with dry salted meat. We also had coffee, mimosas and bloody Maries which I forgot to take pictures of but were delicious. This restaurant was in a nice place with lots of vendors near by. Staff was friendly and place was beautiful and clean. Will be coming back soon.

While on the pricier side, El Paseo Inn is absolutely delicious. Just steps away from Union Station, it’s the only real highlight of having to be in downtown L.A. The staff were friendly, and the service was prompt. We ordered two tacos and the tomato shrimp—both were excellent. The chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful, with the salsa verde being my favorite. A great spot if you’re in the area and don’t mind spending a bit more.

El Paseo Inn is located walking distance from Union Station off Olvera Street next to one of the oldest pueblos in LA. The area is all about pedestrians with tons of shops selling souvenirs and street food everywhere. The restaurant itself is massive with both an outdoor patio and two large indoor seating areas. The decorations are cute and well maintained, perfect for a large family gathering or special occasion. We visited on a Sunday and discovered they had a mariachi band getting ready to perform that night as they do weekly.

The portions here are massive, so be prepared to share with the table! We ordered the nachos with half chicken and half steak. The plate was truly a giant pile of tortillas, cheese, meat, and guacamole. The guacamole was by far the star of the plate and I think it would have been worth ordering just that as an appetizer, especially if you get the tableside option since you get an experience when they make it in front of you. We also had the Sepulveda Enchiladas which were thankfully not too greasy, but did have a ton of cheese on top.

Overall I would say the food here is alright. It’s the average Mexican food you expect when you go to a neighborhood restaurant: tastes good, well seasoned, maybe some hiccups, but nothing to fret about. It isn’t a place with unique dishes or super high quality food, but it’s decent and you’ll be satisfied.

Food was excellent. Highly recommend the Chicken Enchiladas de Mole.

The Table Gucamole was very delicious.

Only complaint was our waiter went on break before taking our order.

However, the young lady who made our Gucamole saved the day and took care of us until our waiter came back.

Sorry about the Photos, I started eating before taking the pictures.

We ordered Albondigas, Enchiladas Rojas plate, Carnitas plate, and Burrito en salsa verde. Everything was good and portions are very generous, but prices are a little high. The albondigas just had a little too much spices (not hot, but lingering). The place just needs an update. Service was excellent, attentive, and fast. Support The Placita Olvera, I really had fun visiting The Avila Adobe house, the many stores (which are in danger to close because of the lack of visitors)

Restaurant in the heart of Olvera Street. Food was good but you have to pay for chips and salsa – the cost varies based on the size of your party. Menu is a bit limited too.

This was an incredibly disappointing and unacceptable dining experience. We were rushed from the moment we sat down, the food was mediocre, and the prices were far too high for the level of service we received. Even worse, unused plates were placed on our table, we set our dirty napkins on them, and I watched the busser knock the napkins off and put the plates back in the closet to be reused. That is unsanitary and absolutely disgusting — it raised serious concerns about whether anything in this restaurant is handled safely.

The manager showed no real care or concern. He gave a brief apology and never returned when I asked to speak with him again. Nothing was offered to make the situation right — not even something as small as comping a soda — despite how upset and uncomfortable we were.

To make matters worse, after we asked for the check, we waited another 15 minutes. It wasn’t until I went inside and stood there waiting that someone finally handed it to me. For the price we paid, this level of service and sanitation is unacceptable. I would not recommend dining here

Prices are crazy high. Bottled beer was 12.95. Food was good and service was outstanding. Cost… 1 beer, 1 margherita, and a nacho appetizer was $55. Yikes. May not be back.
