I came here to place a carry out order and the service was great! But the food wasn’t very good. I ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla and there was hardly any meat in the quesadilla. It was mostly just chunks of fat. I also found two full Bay leaves in my quesadilla and a bunch of little chunks of bay leaves as well. Which is weird because you are definitely supposed to take those out before serving. There was also just a pool of grease at the bottom of my plate on the Carne Asada broth. Also the carne Asada broth had lots of chunks of fat in it. it just tasted like grease not really like a flavorful broth.

Absolutely Delicious & Truly Authentic!

El Palmar is such a gem! This locally owned and operated restaurant serves incredibly authentic Mexican food, and everything we ordered was fantastic. We tried the steak and chicken smothered burritos, cheese enchiladas, and flautas, each dish was full of flavor, fresh, and generously portioned.

The house-made salsa was especially delicious and definitely a standout. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and you can tell the owners truly care about the quality of the food and the experience.

If you’re looking for great Mexican food and friendly service, El Palmar is absolutely worth visiting. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant.

Checked out El Palmar before the Syracuse LDS Temple Open house. We had a group of 10 & eek. We all thought this place was terrible. Our service was really bad. I felt bad for our waitress. I felt like she was the only one there working & it did get pretty busy. But I think she might have been the only one cleaning tables, greeting customers, taking orders, & cashing everyone out. So my review was based only on our experience there at the time we went. We asked initially if we could split the bill before we ordered & she said “yes but it would be split at the end of the meal” so we were like great, we all ordered. It took like 30 minutes to get any kind of water refill, which they finally ended up just bringing us a pitcher of water, which was more ideal especially for our large group. The salsa didn’t have much flavor at all, mostly just a tomato-watery taste. No one at our table really ended up eating the chips & salsa. I ordered cheese enchiladas with green sauce. It took a while for everyone to receive their food. My cousin was actually done with his meal before I received my meal. It took an additional 10 minutes for the waitress to bring me & my boyfriend silverware after we received our food. She was busy greeting other tables & taking their orders, which is great. But when you have customers waiting for silverware to eat their food & now their food is just getting cold it seems like that should have been a higher priority & all she had to do was drop it off. It was truly a mess. My boyfriend ordered the Sopes with asada. He didn’t love these. Said they just tasted like oily bread with toppings. Everyone was not super satisfied with our service & the food. We waited forever for our check & then finally went & asked. They don’t bring the bill to your table, you pay up front. When we went to pay up front & tried to split the bill, she then said she could not split the bill. Such a pain with a large group like that & trying to venmo the correct amounts. I would not recommend this place.

Was a very nice meal. Prices were about average for a family of three, meals were decent in size and very filling as they should be. Will be returning to this establishment again. I did take photographs of the menu and post in my pictures on this review.

Finally stopped in and gave this local restaurant a try. Did not disappoint at all food is made fresh to order. My wife ordered the chicken fajitas which is enough for two people comes with rice and beans, homemade corn tortillas, guacamole salsa and sour cream. I ordered the El pastor tacos comes in an order of three with rice and beans. Service was excellent We were sat pretty quickly and offered a refill on our chips and salsa. Give them a try!

Been a little while since we’ve been here so we stopped in and tried their Molcajete dish that easily fed two people and comes with tortillas rice and beans. Absolutely delicious, the jalapenos are very spicy which I really enjoyed. The meats used for this dish are steak, chicken and shrimp They also put in cactus and onions. Give it a try

I order enchiladas at every new Mexican restaurant I try, and these were hands down my favorite in Utah! Can you believe it? And I’ve eaten A LOT of enchiladas. The red enchiladas with beans and rice. They were so accommodating, they even let my friend and I try both the red and green sauces on our enchiladas, since we couldn’t decide which sauce to order. Our waitress offered to split our check, and we paid at our seat. The complimentary chips and salsa were also so delicious I had to stop eating so I’d have room for my meal. We will be back soon!

This is some of the best Mexican food we have had in a long time! The food was all delicious and served screaming hot! The carne asada is some of the best I’ve had. The salsa was flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was large and full of shrimp. Our waiter was very good and attentive to what we needed. The atmosphere of the restaurant is bright and fun and very inviting!

This was our first time going to El Palmar and we’re pleasantly surprised for our first time. The kids meals were a bit small, leaving our kids a bit hungry after eating. Next time, we’d probably not bring them.

The customer service was OK. At first, it was good, a bit too quick. They brought chips and salsa, then then took our order for drinks. Once we had our drinks, they were ready to take our order. From the time being sat to order taking was about 3 minutes. Not too bad, but I had no time to look at the menu so I defaulted to what I always get but not really what I wanted. Then after we were finished eating, it took about 10 minutes to get togo boxes and our bill.

However, the food was delicious and I would certain come here again. Hopefully the A/C will be working too. I would recommend this place and plan to go back, just don’t feel rushed.

The food was pretty mid. Somewhat bland and a little soggy. Not bad, but there are a lot better options out there, even for Utah Mexican. Staff was friendly, but they didn’t really ever come check on us or refill our waters or anything like that, and it took us awhile to get the check. Not terrible, but I probably won’t be going back.
