Reviews
I ordered the chicken enchilada verde and it was excellent. The sauce, the cheese, the chicken, the presentation was all superb.
The staff was friendly, prompt, and took care of us well.i even requested if I could try the crispy potatoes instead of rice and beans and they were happy to accommodate me.
Our only complaint is that I was too full to finish but luckily I get to have some leftovers. We will definitely be back as well as sharing with others to come and check El Padrino’s out. I’m excited to try out things on their menu, including their breakfast. I’m happy to have them here in our community!
The staff is incredibly friendly and it feels like being served a meal from your own family.
I recommend the Skillet Chipotle Shrimp and I look forward to trying more meals on the menu!
Three out of four people in our group had the breakfast chilaquiles (not included in the pictures) and I had the chorizo queso burrito (called Chori queso burrito on their brunch menu). The food came out quickly after ordering. The food was well seasoned and big enough portions to have ample leftovers. The owner stopped by several times to make sure we had what we needed and talked to us about some of the items in the restaurant.
The restaurant is located in a small strip mall so there is ample parking and easy to get to.
The reason I didn’t give a 5 star review is that the cook was just walking in the door shortly after we arrived. I’m not sure if someone was just running late or someone called in sick. I didn’t get the impression that this was a normal occurrence. I will definitely be back here to try lunch or dinner.
That said, the extra stuff on the chips didn’t seem to enhance anything but a visual appearance.
My personal opinions (and consensus of our family)
A few recommendations- get a salsa recipe that has a bangin flavor. The one we had was reminiscent of jar salsa.
When you put fries on the menu, people expect fries, not roasted mini potatoes. Get some fries- 2 of the 6 people at our table did not like the potatoes.
If you serve a side salad, don’t put sour cream on top if you don’t include that piece in the menu. I could add salad dressing because of all the sour cream.
The Skillet Chipotle Shrimp was bland. The sauce was just like I make shrimp at home, more of a garlic and salt and pepper mix. I really didn’t taste a chipotle presence.
The rice was nothing that couldn’t be made from a box package of rice.
The chorizo had an odd flavor initially, after eating it I got used to it. It did however visit me later that night.
The taco salad was fairly simple.
The staff were very friendly and since we were the only diners, checked on us frequently.
I’m going to come back in a couple of months when they have worked through some things and have a chance to get their beer and liquor finalized.
If they find an identity that would help as well. The menu, space and overall feel doesn’t have a cohesive feel.
Happy hour specials would also help drive business- lots of potential! Outdoor seating would be fun.
Service was quick, friendly and Renae is the best, and the food came out hot. If you’re a nacho lover or just want something packed with flavor, the steak nachos here are a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!
