We’ve been going to Olivo’s for years and we normally dine in and the food is always amazing. In my opinion it’s the most authentic Mexican restaurant in winter haven, everything is fresh, and I love how the flour tortillas are hand made to order. Today we decided to get take out since my son is sick, still the same amazing flavor!!! I highly recommend this place! The food is amazing and the portions are just right, on the contrary to some of the reviews on here! Go check it out!!!

The taste of the food was delicious, this is the only reason I’m giving more than one star.
The restaurant is clearly a family run business, and the wait staff needs improvement. We patiently waited for 10 minutes to get menus and probably should have taken a que from the people who just left without ordering. While there, two other groups did the same. Our server took our drink order but stopped to chat for a while with another table regarding his home remodel before bringing us water and a tiny basket of chips. The only other time he came to our table was to bring our light portions, which, in my opinion, were overpriced for the size. We waited 20 minutes for the server to return to order more items, but he never even brought the check. I gave up, waited at the counter to pay, and I’m off to find a second meal because I’m still hungry

All and all we were in the restaurant for an hour, ten minutes was eating.

I like supporting local businesses and want to list the good things first:
1. One of the less expensive places open downtown in the evening (but we were the only ones there).
2. The food was relatively good.
3. We were able to sit outside.

The complaints:
A. It smelled funny inside the restaurant (so we opted for outside).
B. The salsa was not in line with typical American tastes (but they did bring us extra chips).
C. Some of the meat was chewy (but the rest of the food was good).

First time here but not the last . We really like supporting locals. The food was delicious and mouthwatering. We had the tamales dinner, oh my God it was so authentic and really great tasting. And we had the super chimichanga which was also appetizing, my wife ate it with a smile. We finished up with Fried Ice Cream? Yeah it’s a thing here. If I can OMG twice, just did. It was so delectable . See attached snapshot.

Main dishes were delicious but had a bad presentation and could had served more beans and rice with the dish. I had steak fajitas and steak quesadilla. They started us off with chips and salsa. The chips were very thick, greasy, and hard to eat, this is from cooking thick chips on low heat for a long time. The salas tasted like plain crushed canned tomatoes and altogether the serving was very small for 3 people and there was no refill which I reassure you we did not want. They are under staffed. No refill on drinks. Over priced for what we got . But I still left 10% tip with my teeth clenched

Stopped for lunch. Got a combo plate. Everything was very good. The tamale and enchilada were the highlights. We will definitely go back.

OMG- If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars, I would. The only saving grace to this place is the exit! First time trying this place for lunch, and what a disappointment. I should have realized what to expect when i entered and no one acknowledges you until you’re in their face. The young server was pleasant- but WAY overworked and the only server for a busy place (why busy? – I have no clue). Waited for a drink I asked for that never came after being served my meal, that I didn’t finish. The poor community of downtown Winter Haven are being deprived of a real experience with quality food if you’re looking to eat here for authentic Mexican cuisine. I tried the Chimichanga, and it was tasteless! No love in the flavor AT ALL! Basically, calling a pastillio a chimichanga- TERRIBLE and disrespectful to anyone who knows true quality Mexican cuisine. If this was just a fluke because the crew working is the lunch crew- I truly hope the dinner crew is WAY BETTER! Altough, if they are serving the same grade of food- good luck with this place. Only the homers who grew up not having their food seasoned are gonna support this location.

Nice place that has been here a long time. Definitely a little pricey for lunch. 2 meals 2 beers, Bill about 45 bucks. Food was served hot and was fine although not especially tasty. Service was fine although they seemed slightly understaffed. But it wasn’t an issue.
