There have been many restaurants that have come and gone in Wetumka, but Mexican restaurants seem to have a lasting stay in these parts. This restaurant has started off with a bang! Not only is the ambiance wonderful, but the food is superb and far more authentic than most! Their prices are very reasonable w/large portions served, especially given the high cost of food with Trump playing fast and loose with the markets and tariffs, which is completely self-inflicted! We’re all so excited to have the excellent restaurant in Wetumka! You’ll be thrilled you chose to dine there!

A True Taste of Mexico in Wetumka: El Nopal Mexican Restaurant Delivers Authentic Flavors
Nestled in the small town of Wetumka, Oklahoma, El Nopal Mexican Restaurant offers a delightful surprise: truly authentic Mexican cuisine rarely found in this part of the state. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a modern and inviting decor, creating a pleasant ambiance that elevates the dining experience beyond your typical small-town eatery.

But the real star of the show at El Nopal is the food. Forget the Tex-Mex variations that seem to dominate the landscape within a 40-mile radius; El Nopal serves up genuine Mexican flavors that will transport your taste buds south of the border. Each dish tastes like it’s been prepared with time-honored family recipes and fresh, quality ingredients.

Not only is the food exceptional, but the portions are also incredibly generous. You certainly won’t leave El Nopal feeling hungry. What’s even more impressive is the price point. In a time when the cost of everything seems to be skyrocketing, El Nopal offers meals that are surprisingly affordable, with most dishes falling comfortably within the $7 to $14 range. And if you’re looking for the best value, be sure to check out their lunch specials – you get the same satisfying portions at an even more wallet-friendly price.

A special highlight worth mentioning is their unique guacamole. Generously served with many of their dishes (as indicated in the menu description), it’s clear that they don’t skimp on this popular and flavorful staple. The guacamole is fresh, vibrant, and adds a fantastic touch to your meal.

Whether you’re a local resident of Wetumka or just passing through this charming Oklahoma town, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to El Nopal Mexican Restaurant. Its convenient location near the historic crossing where Highway 75 and Highway 9 once met – famously known as the “975” – makes it an easy stop. Prepare to be impressed by the authentic flavors, generous portions, reasonable prices, and the overall warm and welcoming experience at El Nopal. It’s a true gem!

The food here is really authentic! It’s hard to find good Mexican food in small towns. The only problem I have is every time I go once I pay after I leave and check my bank they over charge me. They tip themselves every time. There was a time my total was $20 over from what I paid at the restaurant. I don’t think it’s right. Next time it happens I will be returning back to the restaurant. Please fix this issue.

I tried El Nopal today. Myself and my coworkers ordered lunch to go. On the phone when asked what came with the Grilled Shrimp they said beans and rice. When the runner returned with our food and receipts, I was charged $2.99 for the beans. The online menu said the dish cost $11.99 but I was charged $13.49. I went to the restaurant when I got off worked and they did refund me $2.50 for the over charge on the dish but they refused to honor their overcharge for the beans. I was also charged .75 for making a “to go” order…..what? I doubt I will ever go back and I do not recommend this place for reasons stated.

I ate here yesterday for the first time and the food was alright but I ended up getting really sick from it. I had ordered the street tacos, and woke up at 2 am throwing up with extreme body aches and nausea. The service was great but I can’t say the same for the food. Definitely my first and last time eating here.

Bland food. Extra large plate with a large space where I felt refried beans should be. Shrimp, sauted onion and green peppers. Hard to find onion & shrimp among the peppers.Rice had color, no flavor.

They won’t accept veterans state exemption. Before they did but the last 2 times we’ve ate there, they wouldn’t take it.
