Very good. Hubby and I had the Cassandra special which was shrimp, steak and chicken over rice covered with cheese. It was amazing. Not sure how we’ve never eaten here before!! You have to try this place if you are ever in st. Louie. Margaritas were awesome too. Very well balanced!!

Watch my food slowly disappear… It was too good to not eat. The service was so good! My family and I come here all of the time, and we love this place.

Regulars who go here, say this place is awesome and the food is really good. However my experience was disappointing. I ordered the carnitas, they had more fat than meat. Great flavor, but barely enough to even use the three tortillas they bring you, after you trim the chunks of fat away. In addition, they loaded so much onions on top of the carnitas, I’m not sure if it was to make it look like it was a lot of food? We commented, that my plate looked like an order of onions with a side of meat. They struggled to bring out our food together, brought it out in bits and pieces, while we all sat and waited for each other’s food to show up. It was very disorganized. Service seemed disorganized as well. They have a big sign up by the cash register, (instructing the employees) not to call the owner during certain hours, etc. (that’s not very professional). Overall, it’s probably a good place.? Everyone at our table agreed it was a disappointing experience, that evening. The menu seems to have a lot of interesting variety. They seem creative. But I don’t think we will be back. It was cold that evening outside. They struggled to keep the restaurant consistently comfortable. The temperature range from warm and comfortable, to very cold. All of us at the table went through cycles of putting our jackets on, then taking them off. It just added to the overall experience. There’s a door in the back of the restaurant that they were going in and out of, and every time they opened it, cold air came rushing through the restaurant.

I have to give this place a shout out! We stumbled upon it after getting my birth control at PP next door. Absolutely loved the food and the service! I’ve been back three times since and have enjoyed everything I’ve tried. My favorite was the carnitas. Very juicy and tender and loads of flavor! Thank you!

Try the burrito Alambre!!!

The food is what keeps me coming back.

Have grace for this mom and pop restaurant.

With all that said I really like El Nopal for their food. Service isn’t bad here but there’s also never been anyone from the wait staff who stood out other than Sharron. Sometimes there’s a wait but it’s only because El Nopal gets busy. And if your food takes a while to come out just remember to have patience with the kitchen staff.

As far as menus go, El Nopal has a pretty good variety of dishes to try. I’m a huge fan of anything Alambre on their menu due to the fact it will come with bacon .

Chips for the salsa are better than a lot of other places I’ve been. Salsa is mild but decent. Some days it’s great but never bad.

There is no bartender here so your drinks are made by your waiter. I’d suggest using that to your advantage, and tell them what you really want your mixed drink to taste like. They will accommodate.

The service was great, and I was even able to get a specialty order without any hassle. Margaritas were also very tasty, not too strong, but also noticeably weak. Had a great time, will definitely visit again.

Reasonable prices, especially @ lunch. The service is usually pretty quick(my lunch came out in under 5 minutes). I do think their salsa is good, and the chips aren’t too thick.

Great experience here! Owner Nikki was super nice. Loved the atmosphere, very comfortable, clean and warm. You can tell that she takes pride in what she does. El Nopal dip was absolutely amazing, would highly recommend!

We ordered the chicken fajitas and the Cassandra and were not disappointed. Everything came out fresh, was very well seasoned and delicious. Good portion size as well. Hidden gem. Would recommmend!

Ordered 2 poblanos rellenos. which were ok, but nothing great rice and beans were quite good. Then I had the salsa. Little did I know that there was a sharp piece of black plastic in it, which pierced the roof of my mouth. I took it back to them not expecting anything, and told them as much. The supervisor was nice and offered salsa, but then realized, that was why I was standing there. Asked again what he could do. I just said a beer next time would be great. The supervisor said that he couldn’t authorize that, and that the manager would need to do that, so he took down my name and number and said he would give me a call. Well apparently it’s not ok, which is also ok with me. But to go out of my way to make them aware of a potential bigger issue, and not get a call back was the real sad part. I have plenty of beer at my place, so worries there. This just kind of shows what the manager thinks of their customers. Well Mr(s) Manager, you can have that beer on me. I will be sure to visit El Jarico or Carreta’s next time, or maybe Rosalta’s or El Maguey. One last thing, please don’t call now.

Thank you
