Thought we would try El Morro in geneva . THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE !!!!!This was the smaller one . Well we ordered 2 specials and we dumb about not asking the prices . The plantain basket one was $43 ! That is insane ! There were tough slices of unseasoned beef , over cooked shrimp , and crispy chicken . The chicken was good . The plantain basket was inventive . Everything was bland . Our other dish was pork chunks and a plantain cake . The pork was so HARD I could NOT even cut it with a serrated steak knife .. I mean hard as a rock . Even the few I managed to open had little or no meat that wasn’t that hard . Obviously it was left in the fryer far too long . That dish was $ 21.50. Again bland cake .
When I complained to our server who was the owner about how hard the pork was he told me that’s the way it’s supposed to be !!! I told him it was inedible and that I couldn’t even cut it he just said again that’s how it’s made. No I sorry ..no let me take it off the bill ..nothing . As a server he was not good. During the time our dishes were being prepared the cook went to the bathroom at least 3 time ??? Probably why the pork was so over cooked.!
Was it because we were not regulars or ?????
WORST MEAL OF MY LIFE !!! EVEN A ” IM SORRY YOU DIDNT LIKE IT ” would have made it a touch better but really the pork dish should have been taken off the bill . If the food is inedible you should not have to pay for it .

Everything was delicious, nothing was dry, and by the end the only thing keeping me from licking the plate clean was the company I was with!
Absolute recommend for a small, independent kitchen. Take your family, take your friends, or take yourself, just ignore that one snooty review and give them a try

Highly recommend! Fantastic food cooked from scratch. Stopped for a late lunch on the way through Geneva and enjoyed a delicious cup of soup (chicken sancocho). Excellent!

Delicious!! Cozy little place. Server recommended something under “House Specials” their version of carnitas, which comes with beans, salad & rice. It was absolutely delicious!! My boyfriend order the Steak w/ Shrimp, which was good but not as good as my dish.

Really delicious meal! I ordered the vegetarian dinner with stewed mix vegetables (comes with rice, beans, salad and mixed veggies), a side order of tostones (topped with chipotle mayo), and my partner had the mofongo with pulled pork. Both meals were a generous serving size. I would order their beans again and again, they were so delicious. The mixed vegetables had a nice acidity that I wasn’t expecting. The tostones were a little tough, but still tasty. Ps. You better like garlic if you order plantains (who doesn’t like garlic)! Definitely recommend checking this place out!

This place has amazing food. I got the pulled pork and beans and rice with a side of fried sweet plantains. Some of the best Hispanic food I have had in a long time.
