The food has failed the taste test. 0 seasoning! When you order a carne asada plate you need marinated meat with flavorful salsa, beans and rice. Rice has color but lacked flavor. B beans tasted straight out of a can. The meat was tender but again zero flavor. Our waitress was amazing and supper attentive. My one suggestion to the owner make the food if you were making it for your family and dont cater to the locals bland flavor pallet.

Stopped by on our way back home from Cuyamaca and so glad we stopped by. We didn’t know what to expect when we first walked in but the food is so good and authentic. They have a ton of combination plates with rice and beans included. Their chips and salsa are fresh and delicious- stoked we were given a 2nd round with a bigger bowl of salsa.
I got a #18- Carne asada quesadilla and fish taco

Always great food and friendly service. You’ll find all of the locals getting their Mexican food here! The only thing to keep in mind during the summer is they have no AC, but there are plenty of fans to keep people cool. There is also no heating, but they have a large fireplace in the center to keep people warm.

I love this place!!
I’ve been going here since it opened…
And that’s a long time and I’ve never been disappointed…
I remember Papa stoking the big fire in the center of the restaurant.
Everybody there is like family when you walk in… And of course they know me after being there for ever in a day!!
And the biggest treat of all is Mama!
Always a smile and a hug…
I love everything about this place..
The food is made with love!!!

This place is definitely a trip with the elementary school furniture and all. Best part was the roaring fire on a cold winter night. Not the best Mexican food, but solid nonetheless.

Subpar price to food ratio. What is pictured was $10 alone. With this came a $6 kids quesadilla and fries. Service was quick, food tasted great – but there are plenty other restaurants within a mile that have a better selection and quantity of food for better prices.

I really enjoy the family-owned restaurant vibe and it’s the only place I get a chile relleno. So good!

We stopped there for lunch as we were driving through. The inside is spacious and full of interesting decorations. The furnishing consists of simple tables and chairs. The wait staff was wonderful, attentive and accommodating. When we said we wanted to split our order they even put it on separate plates and gave us extra sides without asking. The food is typical circa 1980’s American-style Mexican, it was well executed.
