It’s an hidden gem! My husband and I, enjoyed our lunch here. We live near here but moved from our favorite authentic restaurants in Chicago. We finally have a go-to!! Please pull in and give them a try. Salsas are great, food is delicious and flavorful, and it’s a nice portion. Edgar I think that’s his name, showed great hospitality and was quick on his feet. Despite a slight language barrier, he persevered talking with us and sharing whats on the menu. As well as the themes. He was so welcoming. We plan to come back!! Beautiful Murals inside and beautiful furniture. It seems well kept up. I’m so happy to be pleased, I love authentic mexican food!!

Like all my reviews, I try to keep everything really factual. Bonus, they were open on Labor Day, we wanted to have lunch somewhere and we are excited to be able to try this place out. The inside is well decorated with beautiful murals all over. We also found most of the staff to be super friendly. Me and my husband ordered tacos and a burrito and they were both very good, we like the portion size and felt like it had really good flavor.
My only con; our waiter asked if we wanted anything else and I requested extra salsa, which I didn’t get until I was completely done with my meal. That was super disappointing, I like to have salsa with my meal and not having it brought over till well after I was done eating, pissed me off. And he didn’t even apologize. Argh…

Wow! Absolutely delicious! They were so welcoming and nice upon arrival!
Our server was so nice and attentive. Menu is fairly large with plenty of options. Food tasted perfect! We can’t wait to come back! Also loved that they played music inside!
The restaurant looks gorgeous inside. The mural is stunning! The seats and tables are clean and esthetically pleasing.

Delightful place! Delicious food, polite service, and beautiful atmosphere. I had the gordita dinner (pictured) and my friend had the El Mezcal. We also had their guacamole and a margarita; both very good.

I had the el mezcal their signature dish along side a margarita. The al pastor was out of this world some of the best pork I have ever had. The Tostada was incredible. The quasadilla taco with al pastor was amazing. The rice and beans were standard fair but the flauta definitely felt out of place and the chicken was blackened and burned on inside. I would recommend swapping it with a taco or another of those al pastor quasadillas as it was the only sour note on an otherwise perfect meal. I finished it off with Tres Leche but I did find out it is not made in house which is disappointing however it was still quite good. The margaritas are strong and priced to move with a large at 8$. I had two and was definitely where I wanted to be. The Tostada was piled high and the al pastor quasadilla taco were worthy of high praise. Keep up the good work with the al pastor and ditch the flauta. You can do better there. Despite that I still give this place a 10/10 as the pork quasadilla taco brought me to places I have never been before with a unique flavor profile I have never experienced elsewhere.
The service was also quite good with a very attentive wait staff. I regret waiting as long as I did to try this hidden gem.

El Mezcal is a great choice for Mexican food in Frankfort. The restaurant was basically spotless, the staff was courteous and pleasant, the atmosphere had a good vibe with traditional music playing, and the food was great. My visit was a carry-out order that I placed at the counter on a Friday evening. All the tables were filled in the main seating area and the kitchen was busy but my order was prepared in about15 minutes. I will definitely be returning with my family to dine in the restaurant!

Not sure what happened to this place, maybe the economy. Ordered a steak burrito and received a lettuce burrito with a small amount of steak. The queso dip was dang near water. The salsa was just puree tomato. Service was good, and prepared quickly. Sadly this place is off our list now. Good luck with your business, i know it’s tough with our economy but you guys can’t serve and pass this off as food.

A place I don’t recommend ever.. at your own risk .. The food might be okay but the owners atmosphere is not something you want to deal with or carry on.. especially if you get caught on a day the owners are there it’s not worth it
