I’ve always enjoyed coming here with family for many years. Today, I came for lunch and there were 3 waitresses. Bartender had her 2 daughters (one 3 year old and one 6 or 7 year old playing BEHIND THE BAR. Talk about safety hazard for the kids…and more so, my waitress went completely ghost and left us unattended. None of the other waitresses came to ask if we needed anything. Mind you, shortly after our arrival, we were the ONLY TABLE LEFT. ON TOP OF THAT, after I asked one of them to get my check, she added an 18% tip, for two people, automatically. In the years that I’ve been here, I’ve never had an added gratuity for a party of TWO. It’s sad that El Meson has gotten this bad. Won’t be coming here again. Management, I hope you check your cameras. Service like this is unacceptable.

The food here was amazing, especially the lomo saltado. I’ve been to 10 different Peruvian restaurants across the east coast but nothing compares to El Meson. The staff is kind, especially the owner Roy. I highly recommend them El Meson to anyone in the Gaithersburg area!.

Do not order from this restaurant. Aside from not being sanitary (I have seen cockroaches there in the past, which is why I stopped going), I decided to give them another chance after some time had passed, thinking that if they were still open maybe they had resolved the issue. Unfortunately, I had another terrible experience.
I ordered two lunch specials through a delivery app at $12.99 each, but only one arrived. When I called the restaurant, their customer service was terrible — they wouldn’t let me speak, hung up the phone several times, and when I finally reached the Manager, he told me that the price shown in the app was incorrect and that he would “update the price” in the app. That makes no sense, especially since I had ordered the same thing before (twice) and was only charged $12.99 for each meal.
In the end, I was left with one lunch that should have been $12.99 according to the app, but cost me $26. I had recommended this place to several people in the past, but now I will make sure they know that not only is this place unsanitary, but also dishonest.

FOOD is great but the girls( NOT ALL) but a few are them are very SHADY and seem to charge you more when Management is not there. Actually MANAGEMENT IS NEVER THERE!! I called many times asking for Management and they seem to never be there! Some of them actually hung up on me as well! Very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE with these girls just chit chatting in the corners like they are in high school. MANAGEMENT: BE MORE PRESENT AND TRAIN THESE girls well. or YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS AND CORPORATE OFFICIALS! and NO MORE UPCHARGING CUSTOMERS!

Very upset from when we ordered take out. The prices were not the same from the online menu, and when it was brought up to the server, she tried to manipulate the situation by indicating they have to charge more for door dash and uber eats fees and the prices are different. They never told me on the phone when I placed the order. Complete BS. They have lost us as customers.

This was a great lunch spot. And after dining I. I’m sure the night life here is amazing. Lots of big TV’s for futbol and great Peruvian food. Generous helpings and good price. I tried something other than chicken for once and was pleasently surprised. This fried pork was amazing. Can beat fat juicy pork bites fried up fresh. Yucca was a great side as well. Highly recommend the chicharones y yucca. Filled me up and had leftovers for dinner!
Ohh and do not sleep on the onion salsa that really was the best part. Secret amazing sauce. I would eat a bowl of it on its own.

I had a very disappointing experience with a waitress named Ana. She was rude, arrogant, and provided terrible service. I ordered a meal that took much longer than expected, and instead of apologizing or explaining the delay, she became disrespectful and unprofessional. It’s clear she has no interest in offering good service to customers. I do not recommend visiting this place as long as Ana is working there.
