I visited during lunch. There were no signs and after the working waiter made eye contact with me and still waiting for a few minutes I seated myself. The were three small tables being served. Awkward. Not a huge deal to me. I dont expect five star service from a 3 star resteraunt. Menu was typical american version of mexican food. Boring. Atmosphere was Kitschy and cluttered. Cleanliness passable.
I kept it simple and ordered the 11 dollar steak burrito. Chips and salsa were meh. Salsa tasted like it came in gallon buckets and chips were of the grainy corn heated up under a lamp. Once again probably came in huge sacks and designed to keep for long periods.
Food arrived promptly and after it hit the table I found out why. Here’s what 11 burrito at el mariachi will get you. A dry un grilled tortilla and some over seasoned over salted grilled stew meat. Nothing else. I honestly thought it was a prank. After reading other reviews It may very well be. My receipt confirmed that my order had been recieved correctly and I was charged accordingly. A two dollar quesadilla from taco bell honestly would have been better.
Sadly I wont be returning. Why is it hard to get just a decent taco in this town?

This locally owned, non franchise restaurant has consistently exceeded my expectations for quality authentic Mexican food in New Iberia. The parallada is my favorite, and the Top Shelf margaritas are very good.
The patio over the bayou is great, and the live music inside a couple evenings per week are well attended. Some folks even dance.

A wonderful little place on the river for a good meal. We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve ordered there over the last 3 visits. The margaritas are excellent and the fajitas are our favorite. I wasn’t disappointed (or impressed) with the enchiladas which are typically my favorite thing from a Mexican restaurant. There are kid friendly menu options and they’ll bring mild salsa for the chips if you have the kids with you so ask for the spicy as well for the adults. We enjoy Mariachi’s and will be back.

Food was good, the attitude could have been way better. We kept saying our thanks yous and being polite despite the unwelcoming attitude. But he crossed a line and acted unprofessionally when he literally proceeded to go out of his way to walk outside, give us back our receipts, and said “no tip, don’t need the ticket.” And walked back inside.

We went for mother’s day. Place full or customers. Mistakes were made, food took a little while to get to us, but having worked in that field gives you understanding. The workers there were non stop hustling never loosing their smile or patience. We had a new girl for our server. She was a Pro.

Had the Spicy Burrito Grande. It was excellent! Stuffed with beef, beans and rice topped with cheese and a spicy Chile con Carne. The Chile itself was awesome. A little spicy. But the sour cream put it over the top. One of the best Burritos I’ve ever had. And the margaritas were simply amazing. Highly recommend.

This is favorite spot to come for Cinco de mayo. They usually have a band playing in the parking lot. When you go eat especially for Cinco de mayo check your receipts. I ordered a burger to go so I could eat in the parking lot while listening to the band and they charged around $20 for the burger since it wasn’t on the their special menu for the day.

the best place to eat in the town of New Iberia. The outside dining is perfection if the weather allows it. Francesco is our favorite host! He is beyond kind. Everyone who works here is awesome. The man i believe is the owner is especially nice. I see him interacting with any and everyone. The food is the best and the workers are as good as the food.
