I’m giving El Mariachi two stars because, honestly, it just didn’t deliver. The food was alright — my shrimp tacos tasted good, but the rice was bland and forgettable. They also made mistakes with our orders, which really shouldn’t happen when the place is nearly empty.
The service was slow, and the drinks were weak — not exactly what you hope for when you’re trying to enjoy a Mexican meal out. The one good thing is the place is nicely decorated, but that’s not enough to make up for the food and service.
There are definitely better Mexican spots in the area — I probably won’t be back.

It’s a cute little restaurant…the service was ok. Chips and salsa were decent but the food was HORRIBLE. And expensive. I wouldn’t recommend it. I had a taco salad that was drowning in grease and Taco Bell meat…The pic I added is a “fajita bowl” and had little to no meat in it…mainly lettuce. And did not come with tortillas-had to add it for an additional price.

This is one of the best Mexican style restaurants that I have enjoyed in years… The atmosphere is top notch, with Rail Road dinning-car flair… The excellent staff was attentive and well balanced in service…but the food… Incredible! Serving sizes is very generous and the shrimp in mind was huge and full of flavor… AND the Horchata is a must have… Absolutely the best I ever had… I cannot say enough good stuff about this place… Enjoy!

We Googled “Mexican food” as we were traveling and El Mariachi came up with good reviews and close to our hotel, so we came over. Totally worth a visit – the food is EXCELLENT! Huge portions and fresh and delicious! Well done!

I ordered a torta which totals to $17.92. At pick up, I had to ask for salsa which I don’t mind because I normally ask for extra salsa just to have enough. They then wanted to charge me $2.50 additional for salsa luckily I used tap or would have had to go get payment for the food I thought was already paid for. No this negative review is not about the cost of salsa but the reasoning that the food is served with salsa as it always has been. Not here, they only give you salsa for tacos, no other food according to the cashier. They made sure to give me ketchup, for what I do not know. And failed to put beans on the torta, that comes with beans…Quality of the food is mediocre and service is terrible which makes the whole experience a turn off. I’ll go down the road for my next torta that is a few dollars cheaper and comes w great service and all the free salsa

Some of the best taco’s i have had in years. The fresh guacamole was so good. The fajitas potions were big and the meat was tender, the pork was falling apart, the chorizo was there for a nice spicy kick. 5 out of 5 quality and service. Definitely would make it my go-to spot if i lived in the area. Well worth the stop if you are driving through the area.

1/1/2023 Update from last year: My family come here about twice a month. We have tried all the other Mexican restaurants in Rocky Mount but this is by far the best. The menus have been updated. Prices are up since last year but so is everywhere else. We love the clean and the great service. Yuri is always our fav!

best MOLE I have had so far and they took care of my request to make my Enchiladas with Pastor instead of chicken and I have no problem with the up charge… they were full and absolutely delicious !!
Side note: the suggested margarita by the waitress(Veronica) that I had is not on the menu but the waitress knew what she was talking about when a asked a couple questions about tequila and she knew what the right one would be for me to enjoy… very attentive staff and you can tell the locals know where to go… wish we had more places like this back home …
If I ever pass through here again I will remember this place without a doubt

Tried this second Mexican Restaurant in Rocky Mount. They converted train wagon into restaurant. Something different and attractive. It was not crowded on weekend as it was a Super Bowl day.
They serve Chips and Salsa before Main course. We ordered Chicken and Spinach Enchiladas and Chicken Burrito. Both dishes satisfied my taste. Quantity is quite enough for one person. Staff was polite and attentive. Ambiance was nice. Would love to visit again and again.
