I ordered the shrimp bowl (a shrimp fajita style bowl) and waited near the front. The server brought the food to my table mistakingly and I ended up dining there, and that was okay, lol.
The food was delicious. The shrimp were flavorful and well cooked, and the vegetables tasted fresh. Everything paired nicely together. My only small suggestions would be offering a side tortilla with the bowl and possibly serving mashed beans instead of whole beans. Also, using a longer-grain rice instead of a very short rice would make the dish even better.
The atmosphere was the nicest surprise. There was a guitarist playing, and later a group of musicians started setting up instruments for what looked like a live music performance. I arrived around 5:20 PM and left around 6 PM, so I just missed the show, but it made the place feel lively and welcoming.
Overall it was a great first experience and I will definitely be coming back again.
I asked the guy at the counter for his recommendation and went with the chicken quesadilla. It was massive, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. I’ve never been that full from a single quesadilla without feeling miserable afterward — just perfectly stuffed and happy. The prices are amazing too, especially for the Ann Arbor area near U of M.
I also tried the mint lemonade, which tasted like a virgin mojito — refreshing and fun, but definitely skip it if you’re not a mint fan.
The space is small (maybe 20 seats) with just two people running the show, but the service was friendly and efficient. I will absolutely be going back.
Our late lunch visit to El Limon proved to be a pleasant surprise. The unassuming exterior belied a clean and inviting interior, setting the stage for a relaxed meal.
The staff, while maintaining a friendly demeanor, exuded a genuine warmth that enhanced the dining experience. The steak quesadilla, a standout dish, was cooked to perfection, with a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The accompanying guacamole sour cream and salsa, though simple, were remarkably fresh and flavorful, elevating the overall meal.
The balance between quality and price was truly impressive, making El Limon an excellent choice for a casual yet satisfying dining experience. We eagerly anticipate our next visit.
The decor is very tastefully done, with artworks reminiscing central America and furniture of varnished hardwood. The bright, cheery atmosphere also has a lot to do with your overall positive dining experience.
The most important part, the food ofcourse, is super fresh and well prepared. I believe the spice level can go up a few notches and yet retain the target clientele. Modern take on Mexican food, our orders were the El Limon chicken fajita bowls – one habanero one plain and both were great. The rice pudding is recommended. Will repeat to try some of their other menu items.
Edit: my repeat visit for a Chicken Shawarma Chhese quesadilla was also great!
