I stopped by this place Monday on my way home and I’m glad I did. I originally went in and ordered a takeout meal, and the cashier was very welcoming. We had a short friendly conversation and he made me feel comfortable right away.

I ordered the shrimp bowl (a shrimp fajita style bowl) and waited near the front. The server brought the food to my table mistakingly and I ended up dining there, and that was okay, lol.

The food was delicious. The shrimp were flavorful and well cooked, and the vegetables tasted fresh. Everything paired nicely together. My only small suggestions would be offering a side tortilla with the bowl and possibly serving mashed beans instead of whole beans. Also, using a longer-grain rice instead of a very short rice would make the dish even better.

The atmosphere was the nicest surprise. There was a guitarist playing, and later a group of musicians started setting up instruments for what looked like a live music performance. I arrived around 5:20 PM and left around 6 PM, so I just missed the show, but it made the place feel lively and welcoming.

Overall it was a great first experience and I will definitely be coming back again.

A glorious fusion of flavors! The fajita “bowl” was a beautiful spread on a festive plate! The beef was lean, tender & savory. The vegetables were warm, yet crisp. The crema zippy and flavorful. The rice and beans side by side light and clean. My husband ordered the nachos which were an excellent blend and a good balance of meat, cheese and vegetables with a good presentation.

Great service. Folks is in shirts and ties. Love it. Great seating. Food was good. Mint lemonade was fresh and flavorful. Steak quesadilla was really good although I was not expecting beans. The people knew I liked spice and brought out a spicy sauce. Would recommend

El Limón is a tiny hole-in-the-wall spot off Plymouth, and I was absolutely blown away by how good the food is. The menu is a unique blend of Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors — think shawarma, baklava, fattoush, and quesadillas all in one place — and it works.
I asked the guy at the counter for his recommendation and went with the chicken quesadilla. It was massive, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. I’ve never been that full from a single quesadilla without feeling miserable afterward — just perfectly stuffed and happy. The prices are amazing too, especially for the Ann Arbor area near U of M.
I also tried the mint lemonade, which tasted like a virgin mojito — refreshing and fun, but definitely skip it if you’re not a mint fan.
The space is small (maybe 20 seats) with just two people running the show, but the service was friendly and efficient. I will absolutely be going back.

Great place for a variety of Mexican food with some touch of Lebanese cuisine here and there. I really liked the vibe and atmosphere of this place, it’s very clean, decorated and many seating options. Service was beyond great. We ordered Habanero chicken bowl and chicken tacos with guacamole and chips and everything was delicious! Guacamole and chips specifically tasted and looked like homemade. I confirmed with the waiter and he assured me all the meat options except chicken wings are halal.

A Casual Gem: A Delightful Dining Experience

Our late lunch visit to El Limon proved to be a pleasant surprise. The unassuming exterior belied a clean and inviting interior, setting the stage for a relaxed meal.

The staff, while maintaining a friendly demeanor, exuded a genuine warmth that enhanced the dining experience. The steak quesadilla, a standout dish, was cooked to perfection, with a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The accompanying guacamole sour cream and salsa, though simple, were remarkably fresh and flavorful, elevating the overall meal.

The balance between quality and price was truly impressive, making El Limon an excellent choice for a casual yet satisfying dining experience. We eagerly anticipate our next visit.

This restaurant was amazing! Food was stupid good!! Service was great also!! Definitely going back, this wasn’t what I thought when I got there as I thought it was a straight up Mexican restaurant but I’m so glad I tried it anyway! I got the chicken Shawarma, and it was not only enough for two but incredibly delicious!!

After over 10 years of remaining the one empty spot in the Plymouth Road mall (the prev location of the AADL Traverwood branch) things finally started looking up with notices and interior work in 2021. Then a further seven months of seeing a ready-to-open restaurant that seemed like it wasn’t going to and the city finally approved the license. And now, those in the know will agree, the north side of A2 finally has a real Mexican fast-casual dining restaurant.

The decor is very tastefully done, with artworks reminiscing central America and furniture of varnished hardwood. The bright, cheery atmosphere also has a lot to do with your overall positive dining experience.

The most important part, the food ofcourse, is super fresh and well prepared. I believe the spice level can go up a few notches and yet retain the target clientele. Modern take on Mexican food, our orders were the El Limon chicken fajita bowls – one habanero one plain and both were great. The rice pudding is recommended. Will repeat to try some of their other menu items.

Edit: my repeat visit for a Chicken Shawarma Chhese quesadilla was also great!
