For all the Mexican restaurants in the Shreveport/Bossier area, it is lacking in really good options.
I’ve been to the El Jimador in Minden but haven’t tried any of the other locations.
I was pleasantly surprised by the green salsa brought along with the red. The red salsa and the chips tasted the same as the Minden location and I’m not a fan at all. The green salsa was the highlight of my visit though.
I ordered the Chicken & Steak Ranchero. It was about $14 and was a small portion for the price. I call their food just average Mexican fare. Nothing special.
Service was quick and great. The building is nice. But it wouldn’t be my first choice for great Mexican in Shreveport.

I visited El Jimador and ordered the fajita combo with a cheese enchilada and steak on top. The food itself was good — the fajitas and enchilada had nice flavor, and I especially liked the steak topping. The restaurant also had a fun touch with a robot delivering the chips, which was a unique experience.
Where things fell short was the service. Our waitress passed by the table multiple times without checking on us, and we had to flag her down just to get drink refills. When the refills finally came, one of the glasses actually had food floating in it, and it had to be sent back. That really hurt the overall impression of the meal.
Overall, the food was enjoyable and the robot service was interesting, but the lack of attentiveness and the issue with the drinks kept this from being a better experience.

Really great and friendly service! The margaritas were great and the salsa was very good with a an added kick to it. The only reason that I gave 4 stars is because the barbacoa was dry and hard to chew. I usually order barbacoa because it’s tender and juicy. So, I was disappointed that I couldn’t eat what I ordered. But I took it home and my husband enjoyed it, with extra sauces, the next day.

I so want to give this a 4-5 star review but I cannot. I have been 5 times in the past couple of months and there is NEVER enough staff. The staff you do have caters to the large parties because they can no choice. The food and price is comparable to the other El Jimadors but the service is lacking due to the lack of staff. I do have to say the beans are typically runny and bland. The other locations are not. I feel sorry for their waitstaff here. It took well over 20 minutes for the waitress to be able to ask us for our order after she brought our drinks as she was busy running around helping her other tables that were all spread out. I hope they get more staff as the food is affordable.

1-2025 Stopped by for dinner, it was not too busy. Food was great as always, service was friendly from beginning to end, & the restaurant was presentable. We had a little robot bring us our chips & salsa. The only bad part about this dining experience was the smaller Ranchero portions. Those Ranchero plates use to be big and you would get your money’s worth. This is still a great place to eat at or drink at the bar & watch a game at!
2020 – I always enjoy this restaurant. Food is always delivered to the table hot & delicious. The restaurant staff is great, they are always polite & friendly each visit. The atmosphere is cozy & usually not busy for lunch so it’s easier to get in & out for lunch.

This was my first time to try this place. Service was prompt, staff were very polite. Our waitress was quick and kept our drinks full. I ordered the chicken tapatio and it was really good. We also ordered the street tacos. Very good. And finally the steak burrito, also very good. The environment was very comfortable. Not too hot or cold. The restrooms were hot, but fine by me. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Food is soo good.

I ordered chicken enchiladas. They made a mistake and gave it to someone else. They tried to give me a bean enchilada. I told him I hadn’t ordered that. He told me I should talk to the manager. I said I just wanted some chicken enchiladas. I finally got the chicken enchiladas.

THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN SHREVEPORT!!! First with the hot chips and the delicious authentic salsa to start was soooo good!!! Then ordered queso with beef and it was amazing!!! And all of our food was hot and tasted amazing!!! I will be back and definitely recommend this place!!

I usually get take- out because they are so fast! The food is delicious, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked! Service is fast and they are so nice. I even got serviced by a robot the last time I dined in. That was cool! And i still had personal service at the door.
