I would give 10 stars if possible. I have been eating at El Jimador for over 8 years. I have never once had bad food or bad service. Not even mediocre service. The staff are alway smiling & jolly. Many of the wait staff know exactly what my order is. The food is the best Mexican cuisine I’ve had. It comes to the table hot & with fresh ingredients. I’m very picky about certain things. I never ever want lettuce on any part of my meal & in 8 years no one has slipped up and included it on my plate.

There is a reason this mexican restaurant has established a following in our community for decades. The staff is always polite, the food is amazing & the location is easy to find. If you want authentic mexican dishes this place is like going to your Aunties home for dinner. Without the loud obnoxious uncle to ruin the night. Everyone here is friendly and welcoming. Try the big baked potato topped with fajita ingredients & queso cheese. OMG this will become one of your favorite dishes. Their salsa is #1 and should be considered the best in Blount County. It sounds like I am blowing their horn but honestly i am!! When you find a local dining experience like El Jimadors its just natural to shout out to the community to support them. I dont want them to ever leave so im going to recommend you give a similar review. You know our tourists and other guests (maybe someone visiting family at the hospital) would like to know where us locals eat… well my hand is high… “HEY OVER HERE!!”… Just below the hospital… you might even see us sitting at one of the tables… come on in!

Food and service are great and excellent. Bathrooms are another thing. They need to be cleaned and fixed. Toilet seat is broken in men’s restroom 25th of February.

Our waiter took our order and brought our drinks, but we sat around for 30-40 minutes and no food. The waiter admitted had forgotten to put in our order. I ordered a chimichanga with shredded beef. I got a chimichanga with chicken. I didn’t even send it back. It was okay at best. This place is just not efficient and not that good or clean. I usually don’t name drop but if you want good Mexican go to Pancho’s!! I was going to give 2 stars but I went to the restroom before I left and it was nasty with liquid all over the floor. I would probably never go back.

Went in for dinner last night with a large group of people. They were very accommodating and attentive. We got drinks fairly quickly and got our order in promptly. I got two chicken tacos with beans & rice. The chicken in the tacos was seriously tough. Almost hard to bite through. The beans and rice were average for a Mexican restaurant. It was edible but nothing special. My girl enjoyed her chicken entrée and said it was good. I had a bowl of beans that came with my brother in law’s burrito dinner. They had fantastic flavor but were loaded with jalapeños. I would’ve ate the whole bowl had it not been for the jalapeños. Most people in the group enjoyed their meal and the place was packed. People enjoy this place a lot but it’s just not my favorite. I’d recommend a visit based on it’s popularity. Just because it’s not high on my list doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a try.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants that I am aware of in the greater Knoxville area. The menu has some very upper level options. It’s absolutely worth the drive. Especially if you’re on your way to Cades Cove or Gatlinburg.
