Maldonado Estrada Ale
The taco only came with a single tortilla, and at almost $4 it felt a bit pricey.
The chorizo breakfast burrito with tater tots was actually really good — not greasy like some of the other reviews mentioned. I’d give it an 8/10.
The Vegas roll was my favorite of everything we tried.
The surf and turf roll wasn’t my favorite; it was edible, but I wasn’t a fan of the meat used.
I didn’t personally try the California roll, but my picky eater (my daughter) enjoyed it, so that’s a win.
Don’t always believe the bad reviews — I’d say give it a try. It was pretty empty when we arrived around 7 pm, and our food came out in about 25 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. Service was good; the young lady helping us was very nice, told us to take our time with the menu, and encouraged us to ask questions. Overall, a pleasant experience.

AVOID MESA LOCATION
This is suppose to be a Chorizo Burrito.
Instead I got a tortilla drenched in a puddle of FAT OIL.
Thank you for robbing me from a good lunch!!!

First time visiting this restaurant and it was a good experience. Not being too familiar with the menu we had questions that were answered by the young guy taking our order. We ended up getting the Cielo y mar Tierra roll and the pastor roll. Both were scrumptious. For someone who doesn’t eat sushi on a regular basis, I really enjoyed the flavors of each roll. Definitely a place worth visiting again to try the other rolls. And there are plenty ! The one and only draw back of this place is they don’t have a fountain drink machine and the selection of bottled sodas is limited.

I normally order through Uber eats. I didn’t realize that this order defaulted to the Mesa location when I normally go to the Tempe location off of university. That was my mistake for not noticing so I still picked up the order. I got the chips and salsa with red salsa, which is supposed to be two big cups of salsa. I also got the al pastor tacos which is supposed to be two smaller cups of salsa with avocado Crema I got home and I noticed they only gave me one big cup of green salsa. I called and A man answered and said he could totally fix that. When I got back to the store a woman at the front said that they don’t do that but she would go in the back and check then came back with one small cup of salsa. Sadly the tacos, the salsas, the bean and cheese burrito, and chips were all very disappointing. I got a lemonade as well which had a very weird taste to it

Actually fantastic — the quesabirria was superb. Salsa verde was maybe the best I’ve had!

Food was soaked in oil. Not jus dripping but a whole puddle. Couldn’t touch the burrito anywhere without being covered. The worst jefe yet.

Just like all the other El Jefe locations, this one has delicious food with big portions at a pretty low price. Highly recommend eating here. The restaurant was fairly empty when I came, but the food still tastes fresh.

My husband and I were really looking forward to trying El Jefe Sushi, but unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We waited for over 7 minutes to be acknowledged or seated, and not a single staff member came out to greet or assist us. We could hear noise and activity coming from the kitchen, so it was clear people were there, but we were completely ignored. It felt very unprofessional and unwelcoming. We ended up leaving without being served. Really unfortunate first impression.
