Our food was really delicious and we will definitely return. The four stars instead of five is more about ambience. The acoustics caused by bare floors and no textiles caused us to have to nearly shout at each other to be heard. Also the lighting is very harsh cold white ceiling lights. I hope they will eventually address these things and the experience would transform into something a lot more special! Pendant lights and sound absorbing textiles would do wonders.

We Love our little Authentic Mexican joint. The happiest wait staff around by far, they are truly happy to see you every time. Food is consistently good and their cheese dip is everything you expect. We frequent this place and recommend to everyone.

The carnitas brought my wife to tears of joy, she said it took her back to living on the border as a child. The carnitas are a must.
They have good cocktails too.
Tip: The pork belly starter, ask them to hold the sauce as the pork by itself is way better than with the sauce.
Tip: get the carnitas. Did I mention the carnitas?

FOOD: First let me start off with im a very picky eater when it comes to Mexican restraunts because I am Mexican and my family use to own a very successful restaurant before they retired, so im familiar with the taste of authentic and thats what this place is, AUTHENTIC. I had the Shrimp Fajitas, Agave Lemonade, & Mango Margarita. Everything was refreshing and delicious.
Service: As soon as I walked in I was greeted with happy faces. The place was packed with customers, and I thought to myself “man…. I just came in for something quick to eat” but with in minutes I was sat a table that had a great view with a luminous sign and 2 TVs, so im glad i waited. The staff made sure to check on my table consistently, even with the establishment being packed with so many people, im surprised they didnt tire out, and if they were tired it didnt show, they kept smiling and were very friendly.
Atmosphere: I didnt really get a view of the entire place however most importantly was cleanliness, that should always be priority, great job. The bar had 2 TVs and was very organized. The smell of the establishment reminded me of home “Mexico” so again authentic.
Additional note: I had asked them “does my mom work here” lol thats how great the food was, I will be back and I recommend others to try this place out for themselves. You wont be disappointed

I had a great experience dining in at El Jefe Cantina. I ordered the taco dinner combo which was delicious, authentic and reasonably priced. The red salsa was delicious on top of my tacos, meat was tender and well seasoned, beans were delicious and the rice tasted like authentic rice not bland like other restaurants I’ve eaten at.
The service was magnificent given how busy they were! Besides my server having a welcoming smile and vibe she made sure I was good on chips and drinks and was knowledgeable about the menu.
The atmosphere very much gives modern and minimalist. It’s definitely not your stereotypical bright pink and orange Mexican restaurant. I loved my experience here and I will be coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious food at El Jefe Cantina! The entree portions were generous, the food was hot and their chorizo was so tasty! Our favorite was the pork belly bites, which were tender and super flavorful! The atmosphere was lively and family friendly, and the modern, beautiful decor was classic and welcoming! The service was friendly and answered any questions we had. We plan to be back as often as well can! So thankful for this gem of a restaurant in our town.
