El Indio is…INTENSE. The restaurant is long and narrow, with only one aisle, creating a freeway of activity in the center. All staff wear earpieces, taking instructions and hurrying around at a frenzied pace. Guests in this aisle instinctively pick up their pace to match. This is NOT a Mexican restaurant where you feel at leisure nor will you experience a laid back discussion with the staff. However, it is interesting to watch the military style activity. The food has been delicious during all my visits. The pork chops can be a bit overcooked, but many prefer it that way. The menu is extensive and the prices are great.

Stopped in again on our way back home for some more Excellent fajitas before an Excellent concert in downtown Knoxville at the Bijou Theater 09/09/2025. Excellent Mexican food in the fringes of Knoxville Tennessee. We had fajitas with chicken, steak and shrimp that was excellent and priced very affordable. I will be stopping by the next time I’m in town.

Great restaurant! Food is good, drinks are strong, fantastic salsa! We loved sitting at the bar area, one of the only Mexican restaurants we have found in the area that has a true bar. The large margarita is HUGE. Fairly priced with large portions!

I stopped in at El Indio Mexican Bar & Grill by myself and had an awesome experience. The place has a really relaxed vibe — perfect for grabbing a good meal solo. Alberto took great care of me; super attentive without hovering and made me feel completely welcome.
The food was spot-on, and the flan was out of this world — silky, creamy, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had.
All around, an easy 5-star experience. Big thanks to Alberto for making a solo night out feel like I was among friends!

Stopped in for the first time. Hopefully it was just an off day. The table across from us got great service. We got left with empty glasses and a long wait time. Kids Mac& cheese (great value box Mac& cheese) kids salad (lettuce & 2 slices of tomato w/ half used bottle of kraft ranch dressing) Steak was dry,over done & chewy. No seasoning . Rice ,(dry hard as gravel) baked beans ,(dry & extra salty) cheese dip ,( like water w/no flavor) Brought it to the attention of 2 employees. ( Sorry here’s your bill)

Forgot to take pic of indigo fajitas but OMG it was all so good. Brought over half home. Queso tonight was thick , creamy and not to spicy and the salsa wasn’t to spicy either… I come here about once a month and never leave unhappy
