Had a great time at El Ideas! (Dinner started with a lickable dish)! Small, cozy, open kitchen. Fun to watch Chef Foss orchestrate the chefs as they prepared each dish simultaneously for every guest. Quality and quantity of the food was exactly what you would expect for a many year Michelin starred restaurant. Well done! Bonus…..BYOB to create your own wine pairings!

We had the most incredible experience at EL ideas. Elevated dining in every sense. The whole meal was memorable, but the desserts completely stole my heart… the French Fries & Ice Cream and the Apples were out of this world. Loved every moment and it was the perfect birthday celebration for my boys.

It was a really good experience but not as great as the last time we were here few yeara back. Couple of dishes had significant execution issues including the french fries, vanilla ice cream dish being too salty. The pheasant broth had the same seasoning problem and the pheasant was also overcooked. The melon, prosciutto pallette cleanser was also far from the mark. Thatnsaid, the lamb, the early grey tea desert and the smoked lake trout was really good. All and all, I am split if this was a great experience that would be expected from a Michelin restaurant.

One of our favorite culinary experiences since moving to Chicago. Warm, intimate vibe and each course is more spectacular than the last. Excited to return!

What a fantastic dining experience from start to finish! I loved that the setting is completely unpretentious and that you are encouraged to walk around the kitchen area and watch and talk to the chefs while they are plating the dishes. And the food – every dish was AMAZING and I literally wanted to lick the plate/bowl after each dish (and diners did for the first course)! It was my first time there, but it definitely won’t be the last. And BYOB is a bonus!

Literally the highlight of our recent trip to Chicago. EL Ideas was our first foray into the world of Michelin guide dining and the team lead by Chef Phillip Foss were our remarkable hosts for the evening.
They’ve made fine dining fun and whimsical in the best of ways, doing away with the stuffiness and presumptuousness that can often stereotype a high end restaurant. All of us diners were encouraged to actively walk around the restaurant and interact with the chefs and staff.
We learned so much about the food, not just from their beautiful descriptions but also from the team as they meticulously played every detail. Furthermore, Phillip and his team took extra special care to take care of everyone’s dietary needs without sacrificing flavor or presentation.
We loved this experience and would highly recommend it anyone who values food and experiencing as it should be: in an intimate setting with people who care.

The MOST fun gastronomy experience I’ve ever had.
Came here with my sister on a work trip and was blown away by the service and food. I’ve been to many 3-star Michelin restaurants and some of them don’t hold a candle to this place. It’s an absolute sham that they don’t have 3 stars.
The second we came in we were greeted instantly, the host helped us put away our coats, and seated us with WARM blankets that felt like they had just been taken out of the dryer. On top of that every single time we stood up to go somewhere we would return to our blankets and napkins being neatly folded. We never had to ask for a SINGLE THING while we were here. It was as if they could read our minds and knew what we wanted before we even asked for it.
The food was equally amazing, every single dish was rich in flavour, held a very personal story behind it, and felt like a trip to another country.
El ideas is the first Molecular Gastronomy restaurant that I would ever consider going back to. Bravo to the staff and Chefs here!

The service is as expected for a Michelin-rated restaurant. They’re attentive and as friendly as possible while providing quality service. I think the food is best paired with alcohol. I’m not sure if the food eaten by itself would stand out.

Chef Phillip and the team treated us to an amazing evening of delicacies from start to finish! The Skatewing almadine was a favorite, but the French fry and ice cream dessert was a visual highlight! Great place to celebrate a special occasion especially if you enjoy watching your multi course meal being prepared before your eyes
