I got the enchiladas verdes and I think every component of my plate was a miss. Positives first, I wasn’t forced to eat it.
The refried beans were, admittedly, the best part of the plate. They weren’t that flavorful, but they get a pass because they weren’t completely bland.
The rice tasted particularly sour or astringent, I wasn’t a fan. My partner characterised the taste as strange as well, so I know it wasn’t just me.
The enchiladas could have been good, and the flavor of the shredded chicken wasn’t bad either. However the chicken was chewy and rubbery, overcooked. There’s few things more disappointing than chewing on a rubber piece of chicken. I wasn’t going to eat that, I have more respect for myself.
All that said, I opted to return the plate as I barely touched it. I flagged down the waitress and informed her I was unhappy with my dish and asked her to please return it, as I don’t want it. I even told her that I’d still pay for it, just take it away from me, please. What did she do instead? She disappeared.
No kidding, I told her I wanted to return the food and she never came back. About 15 minutes passed, the waitress never came back. We sat at the table a little longer and she still never came back. My partner didn’t really care for her food, either. We sat at a table full of food awkwardly until we just walked around to see if we could get our check.
At the very least, they apologized and refunded us for the meal and I do appreciate that. I just didn’t like how our waitress’ response to a dissatisfied customer is to just disappear. It made a disappointing meal turn into a disappointing restaurant experience, and that poor service on top of a poor meal is what’s primarily driving this 1-Star review.
The food was not good. The chairs were filthy and had food stuffed in the cracks of them. My friend and I ordered frozen margaritas and the waitress brought them out to us and apologized that their machine wasn’t working properly and our drinks weren’t frozen but just liquid. It was awful and I sent mine back. Our waitress did take that drink off the tab. We should have been informed of this PRIOR to the drinks being made to prevent waste as well as given a different option to order.
Our waitress was not attentive to the table. I had to ask another server to get her attention to come to our table.
Food was not good. The portions were huge, but the rice was mushy, the beans were flavorless and my kids didn’t care for the enchiladas. I didn’t mind my chicken enchiladas and my son liked his too, which earned the one star. My friend and her daughter didn’t even eat their food.
Bathrooms were out of paper towels. The chairs are so heavy you can barely move them.
We will not be coming back to the restaurant. We really don’t understand how it can have such great reviews. Unless tonight was a COMPLETELY off night. Limited options to eat in town for restaurants so it may be why it’s received the high reviews.
**also, we were charged for the styrofoam cups for my kids, which they could have had regular cups like I had. We were charged a fee for paying with a credit card. And there were $1-$2 uncharged for each enchilada plate. Beware of price gouging.
