The mashed potatoes were top notch. The creamed spinach was pretty standard, nothing you haven’t had elsewhere already.
The service was confusing. There’s a line for chicken and a line for kitchen. This being my first visit the distinction wasn’t clear and the cashier was somewhat rude in pointing me to the correct side. 90% of the traffic here was for DoorDash, which is perhaps why they gave me only a few napkins. There was no other dispenser within obvious view. This is food meant to be eaten at home, which is why I was given just a fork and a couple of napkins. The soda dispenser has ginger ale which is a bonus.
At nearly $20 for good (not exemplary!) chicken and so-so sides, this isn’t a value. Did I get full? Sure. Was this someplace I’ll return to when there are tons of other places serving Peruvian chicken? Unlikely.
I can’t say it’s tasty enough to warrant that sort of price tag, either. I got one of their little tarty desserts in the plastic box and it cost like $7 but it was just some dry cookie that you’d pay 50 cents for at a panadería.
I also got a bistec a lo pobre. It hit the spot, but it’s not spectacular. It literally looks and tastes like just something you can cook up yourself at home in 20 minutes. It’s cheap steak and fried eggs with rice and french fries.
There’s not much diversity in the menu either.
I don’t know at all why someone would come here over Miski down the road, which tastes better, has a wider variety of dishes to choose from, and is MUCH cheaper. There are fewer people here than at Miski? I guess that’s something?
I walk in around 7pm and there’s two employees. I walk up to the ‘order’ sign and he tells me to order at the kitchen area for a non-kitchen item (time to update that sign?). The woman there completely ignores me and everyone else waiting to order.
I can’t even entirely blame the guy, he’s the only one actually working. He at least acknowledged me at the beginning and he is doing all the work preparing the many orders I can see they have lined up.
The woman is doing absolutely nothing. Not taking orders, not acknowledging customers, not helping the guy on the line. She is literally just standing there collecting a paycheck.
Meanwhile, several other customers in front of me just gave up and left after being ignored, after 20 minutes I did the same. I have no idea how a restaurant can be run this badly. I understand it can take time to cook things. But you even ignore the people who are trying put in an order? You guys are literally having money walk out the door.
They have rearranged the order and pay lines and put in new signs. Much easier to order for a first time customer. On subsequent visits I have tried so many items and every single one has been good. Shout out to the alfredo pasta and also the anticucho (beef heart).

I tried the mixed meat with two sides and everything was delicious. I did not need any sauce for the steak, the seasoning was perfect. My only issue with the food was I had the red potatoes as a side. The potatoes had carrots with them, which is fine. My issue is they gave me 60% carrots and 40% potatos when all I wanted was potatoes. If the side dish is called “red skinned potatoes” then at least 60% or more should be potatoes. (Update: you can ask for fewer carrots and they are happy to oblige).
The agua frescas were really good. I had the horchata and it was very tasty. They also had tamarindo and marañon. Marañon is one I never tried before so I had a small one and it was very sweet but tasty. It was made with cashews and I had never seen it available before. Usually if there are three choices, most places have hibiscus as the third. (Update: they rotate drinks).
The staff was friendly and the location was clean. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. I would have preferred real silverware as part of the dining-in experience, but otherwise I left with with a very good impression. Giving five stars based on the taste of the food.
