This is one of the highest rated Mexican restaurants in PDX, but I found it a bit dissapointing. Their al pastor meat was really bland and they fry their huaraches which takes away from the flavor of the nixtamalized corn and seems catered to a more American palette. Their salsas were okay, but not very spicy. I do like that they provide escabeche with your order which provides a nice presentation to your dish, but overall the flavor was just not there for me.
Onwards for my search for the best Mexican food in the city.

We hired El Goloso PDX to cater our wedding, and it was absolutely amazing! EVERYONE could not stop talking about the food seriously, as we made our rounds to each table, every guest had something to say about how delicious it was. And they’re still talking about it even after the wedding which makes this bride very, very happy!
Their setup was beautiful, their team was professional and easy to work with, and the pricing was incredibly fair for the amount and quality of food you get. We’re originally from California and have pretty high expectations when it comes to flavor — El Goloso PDX exceeded them. We sampled several catering options, and this was the only one that truly wowed us.
We worked with Miguel throughout the process and he was fantastic — responsive, informative, and always happy to answer our many questions.
100% recommend them for any event — they helped make our big day unforgettable. Thank you so much, Miguel and the whole El Goloso team!

Really good spot had a fun seating area. Staff was nice. Didn’t fall in love with any of the salsas, wish there was a habanero.
Steak burrito ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
– wet in a good way
– a little reluctant to recommend to folks because of the peas, makes it feel less authentic
– well assembled
Huaraches con Al pastor ⭐⭐⭐⭐
– little flatter in flavor than burrito
– liked the corn though
– almost like an elongated sopes
– bean filling
– probably prefer burrito on an everyday basis though

“YUM!” .. that was the word that I involuntarily said after my first bite. I ordered a carnitas burrito and chips and salsa. Absolutely delicious. The tortilla was fresh and honestly might be the best tortilla I can remember having. The salsas were all flavorful and fresh. The chips were perfect. The service was great. I wish I lived closer. El Goloso PDX would be a regular stop. Oh… and I also had a passionfruit/mango agua fresca. Not too sweet and yummy on a hot summer day.

Just one of the best breakfast tacos/Burritos around, they are so good, so toasty, and and like like, their tinga is very good too, is like soooo good.

We hired El Goloso for my husband’s 50th birthday party. From beginning to end, Miguel and his staff were very thorough, efficient, and professional!! Every detail to food set up and service was excellent! We recommend all his food items, especially the tacos and quesadillas! We totally recommend El Goloso for your catering event, or if you just want some really good tacos, don’t hesitate to visit his taco truck. You won’t be disappointed!!

Really amazing burritos here. The homemade tortilla makes this one of the best burritos in the city. My only critical feedback would be that the pastor burrito was way too greasy. There was way too much grease dripping out of the bottom of the burrito and I didn’t feel great after eating it. I’d recommend trying to strain off some of that grease. Overall, delicious and five-star worthy though.

Went there on a whim today because I was hungry as I was leaving the post office and I saw the taco cart across the street. Ordered 2 asada tacos…. they were absolutely phenomenal. It honestly caught me off guard with how delicious they were. And the price was great too. They are in my top 3 all time favorite PDX taco joints now. I dont write a lot of reviews but this place deserved one. Amazing.

The burrito was very flavorful without any hot sauce or salsa, though, all three options of those were great too. Big portion, friendly staff and probably one of if not the best burrito I’ve had in Portland.

This food cart is in the Piedmont FC pod. I got this recommendation from a chef. He said it was good. He’s right. Actually he said it’s the best Mexican food he’s had in Portland.
As a person who is GF I really love Mexican food- there’s a lot of choices usually and that’s certainly true here. Only 2 menu items aren’t GF (tortas and burritos) everything else has corn tortillas.
The guy working the register is really friendly. The hurache was delicious and there was plenty of food for $13.
The people who were eating at the FC pod were super friendly. They had 4 football games going. Lots of spaces to eat – some are covered for the rain. Parking is a little challenging since it’s on Killingsworth and only 2 blocks off of MLK.
Definitely worth the trip for the food. We’ll be back
