Everything looked good but we went with a mixed order of fajitas and also a side of cheese dip and fresh guacamole. Way better than our experience at the Mexican restaurants in Glenwood and Shenandoah. We will definitely return

Grand opening for this little gem. Ad suckered me in of course with free margarita. If nothing else got a free marg but oh no! The margarita was no mix marg. It was smooth and delicious. The chips & salsa you always get had a flare to it. 2 types of sauce and bean dip. Chips were homemade. I was trying to behave bc I still had Easter dinner to eat. 2 street tacos steak and chicken. Yum! Got a side of guac which was way more than expected. Owner came over to talk to us and tell us their family history in the area. I will definitely choose to come here since my fav place closed in Bellevue a few years ago. Just like that a new fave! Shop local! support Small!

We were so excited to find this place! My boyfriend and I were hiking on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, which is part of the American Discovery Trail going coast to coast. Our hiker map indicated that a restaurant in this location may be closed, so it was a very pleasant surprise to find that it was not only open, but now we got to try a relatively new Mexican restaurant just in time for our lunch break. This place gives big portions, the food is great. Very flavorful, perfectly cooked. The service was attentive and friendly. I tried the Mexican enchiladas, which were different from anything I tried before. They were really good. My boyfriend got the carnitas plate, which was also amazing. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

We love having El General available in this rural community. We have dined in and gotten to-go multiple times and have never been disappointed. I always get the quesabirria and love them and usually have leftovers. The staff are always courteous and helpful, and I think the prices are more than fair.

First time here and definitely will be back. Friendly, fast service. Amazing authentic food! We got to try a new dessert they were going to add to the menu- fried flour tortilla shell with ice cream, whipped cream and caramel. Yum!! We were happy to try it out for them. Looking forward to ordering from their breakfast menu. Congrats to owners and staff- well done!

Just went to this place with my girlfriend and we were blown away with the amazing food and service. The Salsa and three kinds of dip were delicious. I had the Mexican enchiladas, and my girlfriend had the steak quesadillas. Both were excellent. The rice and beans were perhaps the best I ever had. I don’t usually like beans. Both plates were huge and for under $16.00. I highly recommend this place. Also want to say my server was excellent. Took our drink and food orders along with checking up on us.

Food and drinks were amazing—definitely worth checking out! Service was a bit slow, having just opened, so totally understandable. Be patient with them—it’s worth it!

Small portions for price! They don’t like substitutions! Wanted two beef and one chicken enchilada and they said they all have to be the same! I said what ! She’s said yep! Don’t no what happened to customer is always right and trying give them what they want! The or small town can’t afford to lose customers I would think!

Excellent food and excellent drinks – mango margarita, lime margarita and strawberry margarita were all some of the best I have had. Shrimp ceviche was top notch, tamal and quesabirra tacos were delicious. Fresh house made tortilla chips, so nice to find fresh chips.
Staff was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be going back when I am in the area again.
