FOOD: I just happened upon this quick service restaurant and wow the food is incredible. I decided to try the Beria taco fish taco and Kearny Asada taco as well as the Beria soup.
The tacos were five dollars each, which honestly is comparable to some great tacos, I’ve had in San Diego. They were a very decent size with a lot of filling, making this a very hearty snack or even meal.
A Beria soup was superb while it was dense and fatty. They were shreds of beef, cilantro, and freshly cut onions to lighten up the suit.
I was surprised how many salsa they provided with the tacos. There was a cool avocado salsa, a smoky red salsa, and a mustard colored habanero salsa they provided plenty of sauces so I didn’t feel like I needed to go to the counter to ask for more.
Though I didn’t try the other items on the menu. I will definitely be back for their chilaquiles and tres leches cake.
They have quite a selection of Fresca’s, including Horchata, Jamaca, and one other beverage I didn’t recognize. They also have alcoholic beverages at a very decent price.
ATMOSPHERE: the interior is very basic but honestly, I don’t need anything spectacular just really good food. There are plenty of tables with hard metal chairs and wooden tables. There’s also a high top the stools nothing fancy but a very casual spot to grab a quick bite before a show or seeing some friends in the city.
LOCATION: this restaurant is ideally located only steps away from Times Square and very convenient to get to if you are coming to the city from Port Authority.
SERVICE: the attendant was very kind and welcoming. I did have to wait for a little bit to receive my food while there was no other guests in the restaurant. But I’m assuming that’s because they are making my food very fresh and it tasted incredible when it came out. It was definitely worth the wait.
I’m excited to make this Marlon pop taco joint my new go to in town Square. I’ll definitely be coming back here for more delicious tacos into experiment by trying their other offerings.

Soggy/wet & cold Birria tortilla is falling apart and not fried. When I asked for another without charge the lady got an attitude with me and doubled down it being extra. Why is the taco soggy. It should be crispy-ish. She’s like oh it’s up there. There is no description that the tortilla will be wet.

Amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious — authentic Mexican flavors, fresh ingredients, and everything was perfectly prepared. The service was just as outstanding. Our server, Marco, was exceptional: very attentive, friendly, and professional. He made sure we were comfortable, explained the menu, and truly made our visit special.

Meh. I ordered Taco Bell and it came in a little plastic container that had warped from the heat and probably leaked micro plastics into the food. The portion was relatively small for the price, barely any meat and covered and sour cream. The flavor wasn’t bad but the presentation and the portion could use some work.

Delicious and fresh to order. I really enjoy the pollo burrito and fish tacos here at El Gallo. The tamarind drink was so refreshing. I’m going to need one all summer!

My family and I love the tacos at El Gallo Cocina. The green salsa is delicious, I’ve tried to recreate it but it just isn’t the same. We love the mushroom tacos and the fish tacos and will be trying other menu items as well! Marco, Paolo and Hansel are great too 🙂
