The food was amazing. I got the avocado salad and the flan for dessert. It’s a really nice place, the bar is separated, which is nice. The service was not good. I had to keep asking for water. The cups are too small it was a little busy, so i understood, but i had to keep reminding her. asked about the special for the day she didn’t know what it was, but its on the menu she said they hadn’t told her and never even went to ask.

El Gallo Negro is a total gem. First time in and truly knocked me out my socks. The food was delicious- so rich in flavor and the jamaica agua fresca was so refreshing and not too sweet. You can tell they care about the quality of their dishes.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean, well decorated, and offers several dining spaces for people to enjoy.
I would come here more if I lived closer.

You can choose to sit inside or outside. The service was really good. The salsa is really tasty. It’s on the garlicky side and has some kick to it. The basil lemonade is sure pretty and includes an orchid. We ordered the Gallo Negro, which is HUGE! They bring it on a baking sheet. We are vegetarian and unfortunately we didn’t understand that three types of meet are included, even though they aren’t listed in the description in the menu. But the staff was accommodating, which we were grateful for. We don’t live in the area, but if we pass through again, we would definitely eat here again.

My experience here wasn’t the best. The customer service was great, but the food didn’t taste very good and the portions were quite small. I’d recommend this place only for a quick lunch break, but not as a spot to bring family or friends for a full meal.

It’s quite sad I’m writing this review on Xmas Eve. We’ve tried this place over and over and it just keeps getting worse. We ordered 4 super burritos. None came with guacamole, at least half of it was just rice, maybe 2 pieces of meat in each, the tiniest bit of sour cream, the rest beans. For Christmas Eve we ordered out to enjoy a movie at home and it was the last bust we will have at this place. Quite unfortunate. It’s not like we didn’t pre tip well – 25% for take-out, no service needed! Very disappointed and can’t say that we will ever be back. Our total was almost $80 for reference.

Good food, ambience and service.
Portion sizes are really generous, so if not very hungry then consider sharing or be prepared to take home some leftovers.
Margarita we had was unique but good.
