Our introduction to El Gallito Mexican Restaurant in High Point, NC came through a friend’s recommendation. The service was commendable, marked by cordiality and attentiveness. However, the culinary experience left room for improvement.
While the menu prices were slightly higher than those of comparable establishments, the taste did not match our expectations. Most of the meat dishes suffered from overcooking, resulting in an undesirable chewiness. Additionally, the seasoning was heavy-handed, rendering the entire meal overly salty.
On a positive note, the restaurant boasts a decent and clean ambiance. Ample parking spaces are available out front. Despite these merits, the lackluster flavor profile of the food leaves me hesitant to return.
In summary, while El Gallito excels in service and atmosphere, the taste of the dishes fell short of our hopes.

La comida was cara por unos tacos sin carne y de harina el arroz duro y viejo le ponen mas lechuga y cliantro y tomate que carne no recomiendo… the food was not what I expected. It was more lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese with the flower tortilla then actual steak meat the rice was hard old not very good. Taste very disappointed because I paid close to $23 for this order.

Really good food and worth every penny. Today was my first time going here. The service was good but towards the late night its bit understaffed due to not many people going. I would honestly put this mexican restaurant above most mexican restaurant in high point. The food quality was amazing and the mexican agua frescas where amazing.

I had read some positive press about this place so I popped in to take the quesobirria for a test drive for a late lunch. When my server showed me a picture it just looked like too much food so after perusing and agonizing I went with three street tacos: Barbacoa, Pastor and Lengua (tongue). These were absolutely the best street tacos I have had. The order took a while to arrive to the table and I realized they prepared everything fresh. They come with a grilled jalapeno pepper and some pickled onions. They did not serve chips with order but did serve chicharrones de harina. I had seen them at other places. I’d prefer fresh tortilla chips but these were fine. They serve Mexican Coke in the glass bottles and have Jarritos. I can’t wait to come back and try the quesobirria! This is real deal Mexican grub!

My street tacos were average, but good. My wife didn’t like her meal at all. I found the chips that were served as an appetizer, kinda gross… the wife hated the chips. So, we won’t be returning.

Five stars for food! Sometimes it hard to know when they’re open vs not because they’re closed a lot outside of their “hours” posted. But 100000000% worth the wait. If the restaurant is closed hit up their food truck on s main. This food is so good! I love their quesabirria, chicken tacos, chicken quesadilla, and their chorizo torta is amazing too. Here’s the quesabirria!

Amazing food freshly made in house. And lot of things you wouldn’t find in big restaurants. My 3 fav so far at Birria Tacos, Sopes and Papusa. Can’t wait to try other things off the menu. And nicest people.
Give it a try!
