So my husband and I went here for a late lunch one day. We were seated instantly as there was only one other table. This should have been our first sign to leave. When the server came up to get our order he said “close your eyes and pick something, it’ll be good.” He could have left it at that but instead added “we aren’t Maria’s so you’ll know its good.”
He messed up for several reasons now.
One- as a business owner, its poor manners to bash another establishment and I personally would fire an employee for doing so.
Second- we LOVE Maria’s. The only reason we didnt go today was because this establishment was closer. So now this meal became a review.
Third- If your going to make an accusation like that, then atleast do your job correctly and professionally.
Drink- Dr.pepper/Sweet Tea
The only things that were actually what they were.
Food- Bland all the way around. No flavor in the chicken or chorizo.
I ordered the Taco Salad and it came half full, I also had to order queso that was suppose to come on it then got charged for it. Honestly, the queso wasnt even good and it was cold with chunks. The tortia shell and chips also tasted like the fryer grease hadn’t been changed in months.
The server walked away halfway through my husband ordering and seemed very arrogant the whole time.
Maria’s on the other hand gives full portions, food is always hot, clean atmosphere and friendly service. We have decided after trying both of the El Gallero restaurants (both locations) we wont ever waste our money there again. I have no clue to how they have over 4 stars and am assuming they pay people for the reviews or make the staff write them. Why have two locations that are clearly both getting outshine by the only competition in a small town?

Beware they add a huge tip to groups! Chips taste burned, and the fajitas were so- so. Queso is spicy, queso fundido is also bland and the prices are pretty high. And, instead of being happy to have a large crowd at an absolutely dead time, they seemed bothered and put out that we came to eat there.

Amazing food, super friendly staff. We frequent this restaurant often. We never even have to tell the waiters what we’d like to drink or that we want queso; they remember. That matters!

Happened to be shopping next door, so my husband wanted me to order . I figure walking in would be just as easy t as calling, so walked in, placed my order, asked for guacamole she said she already had it. Wasn’t very friendly about it. Then when I was finished she wanted me to pay then instead of at pick up. So I had to chase my hub down in 5 below to get his card ♀️ i get my order home not a guacamole anything anywhere disappointed. The other el gallero is much better imo

Food was good and a very large portion I couldn’t finish myself. I got the fajitas Nachos with both steak and chicken. Our server was very nice and quick with refills. Overall good dining experience. Price was average what you would expect.

Chips burnt, salsa so hot it was burning my mouth, microwave rice, beans tasted like trash, don’t know how you make them taste so bad. Not busy at all on Saturday night and couldn’t get a waitress to stop at our table for nothing. Best part about this place was Black Panther playing on TV.
