Tex-Mex and John Wayne! This place is COOL above all else. The decor is awesome, you could spend all day looking at it. The steak was really good as were the charro beans and overall the family enjoyed their meal. I had to drop a star because the flour tortillas were not the best and had a heavy preservative taste. The rice wasn’t my favorite either, it tasted like it was made with tomato sauce and a bit of chili powder. The corn tortillas seemed better and I wish I’d had those instead. The service also lost a star because our server wasn’t the most attentive or easy to find. However, the owner/manager was extremely pleasant as was the rest of the staff and helped out when I couldn’t find my server. This is certainly a place I will be returning to mostly because of the steak, charro beans and of course, The Duke!

How do you mess up a taco salad you ask?
Put it in a tiny stale taco greasy shell
Limit the amount of salad, and other ingredients
Throw too much cheese on it
Charge the customer $18.00
I think it would be better to drop the taco shell and make a really good salad. Or make the shell optional (and larger) and charge for it. I wouldn’t have wanted I one of these shells to start with and was surprised when it came out like this. Just my .02.

This is one of my most local Mexican restaurants. I haven’t gone as much as I should, because this is legit food and good service, in a quirky and cool setting. The carne asada was perfect, the chips and salsa are homemade and warm, the margaritas were good. The sides are better than average. Definitely going back!

My family and I have loved this restaurant for years. It’s close to the house and great prices. However the food quality has declined drastically. The house margarita is hard to drink because of the mix. Both my boyfriend and I were very underwhelmed the last time we went and have been trying other places. I hope they realize soon the problem and start reevaluating a get a handle on the quality because we would love to start visiting again.

The food was very good, margaritas come in lots of flavors and styles. The service left nothing to be desired. The portions of food were generous. The shrimp cocktail was surprising and very delicious. Highly recommend trying it. The atmosphere was calm and interesting. Great place for John Wayne fans!

We enjoyed El Gabacho in Ft. Worth last night. The quest was very good and spicy enough we did not add salsa, which we do most everywhere else. I had the brisket tacos and they were delicious! We also tried the ice cream nachos – yummy, but a lot – definitely a dessert to share. The atmosphere was good. They were short-handed, so everyone was busy. It was a great, relaxing place for some good Mexican food.

It was amazing. Everybody was so friendly. Amazing service and food. The chips and Margaritas were delicious! We will definitely be back!!! Not sure why it took us so long to find this place but it will be our go to when we want great Mexican Food with an awesome atmosphere.
