After 20+ years in Arizona, we’ve struggled to find good Mexican food on the East coast. Short answer, Folklore was good, but not great. Caveat: chicken enchiladas are my test food. Others seem to have better experiences with different dishes, so we might go back and try something else.
The good: lime margarita with Tajin on the rim was delicious and well priced. That almost pushed this review to 4 stars. Chips were hot, crispy, and tatsy. Staff was friendly, and it wasn’t busy on a Monday night so we were checked on regularly and lacked nothing. Portion sizes were larger than expected and made for a good value (4 enchiladas with rice and beans included). Presentation looked great.
The not so great: salsa was too tomato-saucy. We went through 2 bowls of it, but mainly because the chips were so good. The red sauce on the enchiladas was kinda bland. The chicken is diced, rather than shredded, which made for a less desirable texture (personal preference). The lights are too bright. While it’s very clean in the restaurant, the atmosphere feels less inviting and you can tell you are in a strip mall.
There was nothing bad about our experience, just nothing that matched the 4.8 star overall review that we were expecting going in.

As a transplant from central Nebraska, I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to find Mexican food on par with what we were used to in a town that was 58% Latin origin, and I’m so glad that we stopped in at El Folklore De Mexico. This place reminds me a lot of our favorite sit down spot in Grand Island, with excellent quality food, great drink prices at happy hour, and amazing service. My wife and I shared the Molcajete, and it was more than enough for the two of us plus some leftovers to take home. We’ll be back!

This is the best Mexican place I have ever ate at. Hands down. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants and this one takes the cake. Everything was fresh, and so tasty. Customer service was excellent. I encourage anyone to try this place!!!

We got the Birria Tacos and I am amazed! Great portion size and the taste is amazing. I also had a strawberry margarita, so so so delicious! Fair price. Service was awesome, everyone is super friendly and the food came very fast. Highly recommend!

My family and I ate here tonight, have eaten here before, let me tell you, the service and food is always on point. Everything, including the drinks are fresh. The portions are great, most people after munching on the complimentary chips that come with salsa (guacamole is extra but delicious)! Will bring the rest of their food home. I highly recommend going here for great, attentive service, served by very sweet people.

Very delicious. I tried the birria burrito while my wife tried the quesobirria. The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. I would have liked a bit more of the birria in the burrito, but what I had was very tasty. The consommé was good. Definitely will be back.

Well, went back and a bit disappointed. I called the order in and they told me they were busy and that it would be 20 to 25 minutes and asked me if that was okay. I said absolutely. My drive took me 20 minutes and when I got there my food wasn’t ready and I wasn’t shocked. It took them 55 minutes to prepare my food. They had not even put the order in before I got there.
I also signed up to get points and they had a message to ask the cashier about a free dessert. There is no free dessert.
I’m not dropping the overall star rating, but I am dropping the service rating down to two stars. Hopefully the next visit they can earn those stars back.

Great place to get a bite! Our waitress was really nice and very attentive. Food came out very quickly. Really loved the street tacos but my mouth was watering looking at the quesobirria tacos my coworkers got! I would definitely eat here again!

Folklore Mexican is absolutely incredible! The jalapeño poppers had the perfect amount of spice, just the right kick without being overwhelming. The quesabirria was out of this world, flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The guacamole was so fresh and full of flavor, and the salsa was just as fresh and vibrant. Every single bite tasted like it was made with the highest quality ingredients. Everything was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beyond satisfying. Highly recommend, I can’t wait to come back!

Cheese Dip Burrito w/ pastor was 10/10 perfect, all ingredients tasted VERY fresh. Also got Horchata, well worth it – tastes homemade, not from powder. I’ll be back for more.
