This establishment changed hands and names a few years ago. Different business and food, meanwhile the distressed-look, antique interior is the same. The food and service is legit. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa with three sauces to choose from. I appreciate that the chips taste fresh and are not greasy.
I usually get a burrito and the lady either gets a steak or some tacos. We usually go there at her request because she can eat Mexican food everyday if you let her and this place is part of our rotation. The grilled onions and roasted jalapeños give the meal a nice touch.

“Delicioso!” This hole-in-the-wall BYOB on Armitage served up a wonderful feast for four of us. Service was attentive and friendly and the food far exceeded our expectations. All those glowing reviews are spot on!
Insider tip: Pick up beverages at GO Tavern & Liquors across the street.

Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. I got the lengua, al pastor, and asada tacos and they were incredibly flavorful and the tortilla was very tasty. This has become my new go-to spot for Mexican food in Chicago

Delicious tacos, flavorful and well seasoned. The lengua and birria and pastor tacos stood out. I love that they usually also serve tacos with grilled onions on the side. Cute decor too.

I absolutely loved this place! The staff is super friendly, and the food is fantastic. I ordered a steak burrito with double meat, suiza style, and it was amazing. They were really generous with the meat, and the extra portion was only $3—which is a great deal compared to most places that still skimp on portions. When we picked up our order, they offered us a sample of their soup, and it was incredible. I’m not usually a fan of having soups at restaurants, but this one was packed with flavor and brought back nostalgic memories of the homemade soups I grew up with.

Just had the tampiqueña and the burrito dinner. Steak was tender and full of flavors, not rubbery or overcooked…perfect. Burrito was huge and flavorful. This is about the 4th me we visit while in the area and this place is good and very authentic. Some other reviewer commented about the rice having too much comino but I don’t know what he/she was referring to because it’s lemony and very tasty. And the reason why we came back originally. If you’re in the mood for some homemade feel Mexican comida, try it out. I’m certain you won’t be disappointed.

Ate there last night and loved it! It was such a pleasant surprise eating at this restaurant. Our favorites were the birria and the steak and pastor tacos. Of course paired with bottled cokes and finished with horchata. When there are so many places to choose from in Chicago, it always good to find gems with delicious food at reasonable prices and great attentive staff!

Best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in Chicago. Food is priced well and everything tasted amazing. I don’t know how this place isn’t busy. Every plate we got also came with grilled onions on the side and they’re BYOB so grab a couple tall boys from across the street and enjoy!
