Very good place. I ordered 2 steak tacos and the Chile Verde platter. Steak was great no chunks of fat or tendons. Nice and tender. The pork in Chile verde was tender. Service was great the waitress was very nice. She brought red and green salsa on the side. The free salsa and chips were great, great salsa. The place is very clean. Excellent, all brand new very clean private bathrooms. And above all the prices were great, at least for today’s prices. Give this place a shot, I know I’ll be back.

We stopped for lunch while driving across the Indiana Toll Road. We knew nothing about Elkhart and picked El Fogon based on reviews; it did not disappoint. The lunch menu ends at 2:30 pm and is an excellent value. The tacos were exactly what a taco should be (asada, onion, cilantro with a corn tortilla); reminded us of being in Southern California. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were exceptional.
You might think twice when you see El Fogon from the street but don’t be fooled by the “midwestern worn out commercial district” vibe; the interior is beautifully decorated, clean, and friendly. We especially loved the murals of famous Mexican actors.
Service was excellent and felt genuinely hospitable. They have a surcharge for using credit cards so we (happily) paid cash.
We look forward to going back on our next drive to the East Coast.

We were glad to try this restaurant while traveling to Indiana for a boxing tournament. The were very accommodating to our very large group. (There was about 20 of us). The waitress was very nice, got every single order correct, was very attentive, food was great, very clean). If ever in Indiana again, will definitely be going back!

My husband got the Chili Colorado, I got the Chimichanga Dinner. We both really enjoyed it. Salsa was tasty and Margaritas were not too sweet. The service was excellent and friendly!

First time here and I was impressed. I ordered the fajitas. They were overpriced compared to other places. Customer service was polite, food was hot and fresh and flavorful! Thank y’all so much for the hospitality so late at night. I enjoyed.
But I went back the next day wanting to try something different and didn’t like it. I ordered the burger and fries. They burned the first burger so I had to wait longer and they kept the same fries so the sandwich was hot and fries were cold also the bread of the sandwich was soggy on the bottom. I would’ve thought they toasted the buns first. So I guess it all depends on what you order. But I didn’t like the food the 2nd time but maybe you can ask for the buns to be toasted and dining in probably Ensures hotter fries

First off my Server Andrea was absolutely phenomenal! She made sure I had everything I needed from start to finish in addition to having a beaming personality. Effortlessly she switches between English and Spanish without ever sacrificing her charm or service.
The food here is always amazing, truly some of the best in the area. On this visit I had the Menudo and a delicious Michelada, both of which I highly recommend.
Love the atmosphere love the people and will keep coming back and so should you

Lunch today at the best Mexican restaurant in all of Northern Indiana! Carnitas were great, el pastor were even better! Salsa is excellent and chips light and crispy. Great service, and only a few minutes off I-80. Absolutely worth it! Very reasonable prices.

My coworkers and I visit El Fogon nearly every Friday for lunch for the best Mexican food around. Yes the food is to die for and will always leave you feeling happily satisfied, but it’s also really the staff that makes this little restaurant such a gem. I believe in total they have 5 people who work there so you move from acquaintances to friends super fast. The restaurant is always clean and the wait time is never too long. First impression might be to question the size of the parking lot and maybe the inside of the building, but I think the size is what really allows them to maintain such a personal touch. It’s beautifully decorated with a seasonal tree that they’re always redecorating for the current holiday. A must try if you haven’t! 10+/10 LOVE!
