Very few restaurants have the staying power to celebrate even a quarter-century of service, but El Fenix celebrated their Centennial! Founded in 1918, by Mike Martinez, a Mexican immigrant, El Fenix is credited as “The Originator of Tex-Mex Cuisine.” It has been named an “All American Icon” by Nation’s Restaurant News and a must-see dining destination for visitors to North Texas. Acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants™ in 2008, El Fenix was refurbished with freshened interiors and a revamped menu, while maintaining its signature authentic elements.

This is one of my favorite places to eat at in Greenville. We always stop in when we are here. It’s always clean (even the bathrooms). The staff is always friendly and helpful with anything you need. Food is great, we normally get the fajitas but tonight we did enchiladas. Always grab some sopapilla with honey. DEFINITELY STOP HERE FOR A GREAT MEAL!!!

We have dined at the Greenville location off and on since they opened a few years ago and have dined there twice in the last week, yes, it was that good! The last two times have been awesome and a wonderful experience! The service was fantastic and the food was fresh, great quality and delicious. Ismael runs a clean and inviting location. The staff that waited on us were some of the nicest and tentative people at any restaurant we have ever dined at. Special shout out to Ismael for running a great location and to his staff Kellsie, Miguel, Emma and Cleme for a job very well done. We will definitely be back, soon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!

One of THEE best restaurants I have eaten at. Food was absolutely delicious full of flavor. Waiter was pleasant, very well mannered and attentive he made sure our drinks were always full and checked with us often as did a woman I’m assuming was a manager. I will definitely be eating here again.

I’ve been eating El Fenix for over 40 years. Our area finally got one. We have been there 3 times. We went when they first opened and it was not good. We have given them 2 more chances to improve. This visit was the worst. They brought my husband’s chicken enchiladas, and you could smell the char. The tortillas were black. He NEVER sends food back, but he did this time. They tried to tell us that it was the sauce they dip it in that made it black but couldn’t explain the burnt smell. Our 24th anniversary was definitely one to remember. Won’t be going back. Their chips are still great. Salsa is not hot at all though. Taco was good.
