Don’t miss El Encanto!! This family owned restaurant was such a treat for our family. My husband and I had the chile rellenos, our son had pancakes and bacon, and the waitress generously brought out some shredded chicken for our little baby to snack on. We got to taste their chili too – amazing!!!!! If we didn’t live so far away (currently driving cross country) we would be regulars here. It doesn’t get much better. Thank you El Encanto for delicious food and wonderful service.

El Encanto, a family-owned and operated restaurant, has been a fixture in the northwest corner of the plaza in Las Vegas, NM, for about 30 years. Upon entering, I immediately noticed a strong local presence, with patrons greeting each other and enjoying their meals. The waitress addressed several customers by their first names, a clear sign of a beloved local establishment. The sight of the restaurant’s family members working together added a heartwarming touch that is rarely seen.

I opted for the chile relleno combo plate with red chile, as green chile was out of season. A local struck up a conversation with me—a common occurrence in New Mexico towns like Las Vegas or Española—and we discussed the different types of chile and regional foods from northern and southern New Mexico. When my food arrived, I was impressed by the generous portions. However, they were a bit sparse on the mashed beans, which I suspected were not fresh. The red chile sauce, while good, contained chile flakes, which might be their signature style, so I won’t fault them for it. The taco was decent, though the meat was a bit dry and overcooked. The standout of the meal was undoubtedly the chile rellenos—they were excellent. Overall, the food at El Encanto surpassed many other so-called New Mexico restaurants I’ve experienced.

Waitress was rude. Didn’t let me know they were out of beans still brought me 2 tiny little so called enchiladas. I told her nothing on top,she brings my order out, covered in cheese. Then I ask about the beans and she snaps at me saying we don’t have any. So I’m supposed to pay $12 for a partial order? I won’t be coming back k.

we found this little gem on the drive toward Albuquerque. Its located right in the plaza of Las Vegas, the hospitality was great, very welcoming. My favorite thing besides the food was the community in this space, everyone knew each other and it is family owned. thanks Andrea!!!!! ❣️ we will definitely be stopping by every time we pass through LV, NM.

Opened since 1999, this little family business serves a good Spanish omelette (8.5$+T) and free flow coffee. Walking distance from NMHU, a good place for a quick bite. Kids friendly, a little small for kids to run around. Popular with locals, staff is friendly, efficient and informative. Venue is clean, free WiFi (ask for password). Try the home made pies (1.75+T).
