We stopped at this restaurant last year as a last resort as the first two restaurants were closed. Boy, were we glad we did. I ordered the vegetable fajitas, and the staff was very accommodating to make it vegan. Which means hold the cheese and hold the sour cream. They were also able to substitute the refried beans for french fries. As the beans are cooked in lard.
So, I ordered the vegetable fajitas, and they were absolutely positively delicious! As you can see in the photo, there is a plate full of lettuce, avocado, pico de gallo, Spanish rice, and three tortillas. On the other platter came a sizzling plate full of grilled vegetables. There was broccoli, mushrooms, onions, halved baby carrots, bell peppers, and more. This sizzling, grilled pan of vegetables had a delicious flavor, not bland as most restaurants.
I liked this meal so much we stopped by this restaurant on the way back home. And when we had to take a road trip again, we stopped on the way out and we stopped again on the way back. It is about a 5 Hour drive from my house, but I’m already planning on going back. Highly suggestible.

Nice place, food was good and the food came quickly. They weren’t busy at all so we got in and out quickly. Ordered beef fajitas, chicken fajitas and taco platter. Tasted really good. Salsa was good, chips pretty good. Not bad for Hays, Kansas! The server wasn’t rude but just wasn’t very friendly. We would probably return if back in Hays. I would’ve rated higher but based on some other Mexican restaurants I’ve visited this was 4 star instead of 5. Thanks!

Veggie fajitas and frozen margarita were very good. The gentleman delivering food to tables looks like he lost his best friend. One could hope for more spark from servers.

I ordered a burrito, enchilada and tamale combo and a taco salad the beef was undercooked and didnt have any of the toppings on it. When I called the restaurant to tell them. They said the meat was cooked perfectly and they did put the toppings on the salad. They refused to give me a refund and wanted to send me pictures of the beef that they cooked. They said that it was fine to eat and would not hurt me.

Very clean, music playing on the radio at the bar. The servers were nice. Food tasted great. If we drive this way again, we will stop by.

Saw that this has great reviews and I was so craving Mexican food. The decor of the restaurant is nicely done. It was very colorful. The wait staff seemed like they were in a hurry and spent as little time with you as possible. I will say that my order (beef chimichunga) came out quickly. The overall taste and view of the food was good. However, the beef was odd looking…it kinda didn’t look quite right. I would order chicken if I ever go back, which I hope I did.

Excellent food & service!! Trying to find an authentic Mexican food restaurant in KS has proved to be a daunting task! We came upon El Dos and we fell in love with this place and will go almost 100 miles one way from our home to have a meal here from now on! I ordered the fish tacos, covered with foil to keep warm & they came with rice & beans. Hubby had the steak fajitas and he loved them, sizzling hot. Chips & salsa were served of course and their salsa was very tasty, though not hot enough for our likes, but the waitress kindly brought some which was hotter from their kitchen and that hit the spot! Their decor set our meal off, with such bright colors and cleanliness!

THIRD time is a CHARM!
We can’t express how happy we are in finding this little hidden gem in Hays. When you go somewhere and their food is just as good or better than the first 2 times, it’s a keeper! The staff has been cheerful and helpful all 3 times as well, making the dining experience that much more enjoyable! Try it, guarantee you’ll love it!

Driving through Hays on our way home to Colorado and needed a sit-down meal outside the car. El Dos was a pleasant surprise right off I-70. Service was friendly and efficient, we got our food quickly, and everything was fresh and delicious. The $3.99 Grand Marnier Margarita was very good, too! (The driver did not get to try it, of course). Highly recommend and would definitely stop there again.

We were on the road and stopped for lunch. The enchilada, rice, and beans on the lunch menu is reasonably priced (A little under $8). The enchilada is ground beef (maybe its me, but the beef had no flavor) with what looked like red enchilada sauce (not chili) on top. Soft tortillas, queso, or a relish bowl are not offered. The tortilla chips are tasty, crisp, and not salty. The salsa is bland, a little thin, served in a clear, small, vase.
