I first saw this place when I was driving through Burien at night and noticed a red LED decoration with fog coming from it. I couldn’t tell exactly what it was, but I thought it looked cool. I also noticed four flags.
The flag of the United States of America, Mexico, Washington State, and Pride.
The last two caught my attention; it’s not often that you see a restaurant outside of Capitol Hill or Seattle displaying those flags.
I couldn’t catch the name of the restaurant, and I had my girlfriend on a call with me, so I embarked on a quest to find out the name of this place. I requested her aid on this quest, and she was able to see me driving around the area, street names, restaurants nearby. She pulled up Google Maps, and eventually she was able to see which one it was.
Perfect.
I decided to give it a shot with my folks. One of the best decisions of my life. Easily. If you want REAL, authentic, flavorful, and seasoned Mexican cuisine, this place is it. I’ve eaten at so many Mexican restaurants my entire life, and this one takes the cake, hands down.
To give you perspective, it’s so damn good I want to hire the amazingly talented chefs for my wedding. It’s so damn good, I want to bring a frozen plate, secured away in my suitcase, to bring to my girlfriend in the Philippines, 6k+ miles away.
The owners and people running the restaurant were all so incredibly kind and welcoming. I noticed two of the flags were down when we went, and I asked them about it. They told us the wind had knocked two of the flags down and even showed us pictures. They really went out of their way to reassure us.
One of the flags being the Pride flag, I felt it was important to ask, since that’s truly the reason why I came to eat here. I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant include the Pride flag, and I feel like that’s so inclusive and wonderful. Especially in this current political climate, I feel it’s important to connect with your community and come together. Everyone, from all walks of life, should feel respected and included, and hell, what better way to feel the spirit of love and inclusivity than to pair it with amazing Mexican food and bright vibes?
The people running this restaurant truly care about the quality of their food, their customers, and their environment. There is traditional Mexican décor everywhere: old-style classic cars, orange and yellow bouquets of flowers, Catrinas, Monarch butterflies.
It is a wonderful place, truly, and I will be coming here a lot more often.
Split the Chilaquiles Sampler with friend and it was legit we may have a new contender for best chilaquiles in town.
Love love love!! That you can get a small bowl of menudo for $10 it was very flavourful and not too greasy you can tell it was made that morning.
Their home made tortillas were top notch also saw an elderly señora in the back of kitchen cooking which is always a good sign.
Definitely coming back to try their northern style burritos!
Great addition to Burien’s best Mexican food city in Washington State
The menudo 10/10 flavorful rich and whit the right amount of seasoning hand made tortillas..
The Breakfast burritos are expectacular handmade tortillas the guisado will bring back home memories and to top it off the Cafe de la holla id just like my grandma use to make it at the rancho…
About the food: wife had the huevos Mexicanos. It came with potato’s and beans — very good!
I had the “divorciados” a chose the combination of red and mole with asada, and my goodness, these were some of the best chilaquiles I’ve had since leaving LA!! Their horchata was made and bottle in house and also very delicious, just like their cafe de olla! Highly recommend this place and will be back very soon!
We initially came for the weekend evening taco stand, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ btw! Go try it! Today for breakfast. Loved it!! We will be back! So happy they are open early!
