Well, yes – it looks like a classic tourist trap. Just gone overboard on the Marinero thing. And yes, I did read the not-quite-good reviews.
But… reality is, we walked in, got seated, ordered, serviced and paid, and the food was good. We had dedos de pollo and a big watermelon juice (kiddo), and (3 big pieces) pescados la plancha and a lemonade made to order (you can order without sugar!). All very good.
Not sure why some reviewers complained about the prices… for locals, this is pricey – for someone used to US and European places, almost all the restaurants closer to the coast on Galapagos are the price of a cheaper restaurant at home. I have to assume there are really cheap restaurants frequented by locals, and this is not that, but was good for us.

Wry unique place. The inside is covered in memorabilia and objects from all over the world, including a canoe, flags and maritime objects. The food was really good. They serve traditional Ecuadorean/Galapagos sea food. I got the Garrick lobster and it was absolutely fenomenal. We also got ceviche of fish and shrimps and two mint lemonades. The waiter was really friendly. Cash only.

A really cool restaurant with quirky decorations. We had a nice avocado salad with shrimp which was light but yet filling. There are also beautiful and friendly cats around. Average prices!

Fantastic and very fresh empeñadas; you can get 2 for $5 and take to go to the beach or eat in this lovely family owned place with its eclectic decor. The owner invited us to sit and brought us popcorn to dip into fresh piquant salsa.

Really loved this place! The waiters and waitresses are very nice and personal! They work fast, love a quick little chat and give good and honest advice. The food is really good and you get a lot of it too. They also have home made sauces, which taste amazing. The price of the lobsters varies per day. Mine was 35USD and they also had bigger ones for 45.

The decor is very festive which makes it very inviting.
Service was friendly.
What I did notice was a lot of dead cockroaches on the floor. I get it’s an island but I’d imagine they would want to at least present their space as being somewhat clean.

Fantastic place to have lunch or dinner. You get a good selection of fresh sea food including langustina, a speciality. There ate also fresh pressed juices and lemonades there. And two cats only missing thing is WLAN. All in all a good place to have a great dinner.

Local, mid priced, good restaurant. The decor is unique – mainly maritime memorabilia, but lots of “other” things decorate this wonderfully eccentric place.
The food here was very good, the lobster was excellent, drinks selection limited but very adequate.
